Does anyone know what size freeze plugs are in a 1955 1st series 235 engine. The parts stores do not seem to have a listing. Thanks

For brass Pioneer set PE103B should work or PE103 for steel

Local stores sell the set for less than shipping from Patrick's would be. A lot of the "hard" parts for these trucks are available though local sources for reasonable prices if a guy knows how to look for them.

Napaonline.com Autozone.com or Oreillyauto.com all have online catalogs to search for mechanical parts to see if you can get them locally or to have a price to compare with. Keep hunting if the brand of parts is "Rare parts" though as rare means more $$ most of the time. Then some of the specialty houses offer competitive deals.

The freeze plug seems to be an inch and 5/8 Auto Zone only carried 1 so I got another from Orileys. I need to remove the old ones and flush the block.

There are small freeze plugs too. Buy the kit less than 15.00. The reason I like Patrick's and Tom Langdons they know the 235 and its a one stop shop for me. I go to the FLAPS and sometimes they look at me like i got 3 heads when discussing the Stovebolts.

By the way mr48chev I do not know if you noticed i think NAPA is changing i went there a few days ago and wanted to get an oil pan gasket for the 235. They did not have it in stock the were going to order it from a place in Illinois or Indiana and they wanted less than 15.00 for the gasket but with 20.00 shipping. I went to Autozone and gave them less then 15.00 for a felpro and they got it from their warehouse 4 hours later with no other fees. To each is their own and good luck finding your parts.

My ongoing truck projects: 48 Chev 3100 that will run a 292 Six. 71 GMC 2500 that is getting a Cad 500 transplant. 77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.
