Just did a prefit with the bags on the back of my 72 Blazer. C Notch installed and the bags (Firestone 2600) on top of the stock trailing arms. It has a 1 1/2 tall cup on top to clear the fitting. Current bumpstops are urethane about a 1/2 thick. I jacked up the rear end and the bags completely bottom out about 1 1/2 before hitting the bumpstop. Isn't it supposed to rest on the bumpstop when aired out. Cant be right as I would think that you dont want the full weight of the Blazer on the bags when they are aired out. Do I need a bigger bumpstop or maybe some 1 or 2 inch blocks. The blocks would also solve the issue of the panhard bar (Early Classics kit) hitting the bottom of the C-notch when aired out. Am I missing something in the picture ?.

Blocks or bolting the bag directly to the frame (eliminate the 'hat') would as well.

When you start getting that low the porterbuilt panhard bar is a better choice. It will drop the bar on the drivers side and move the pass side to the side of the trailing arm. That will fix the issue in the pictures. I dont think a two inch block will make it. My bags are bolted directly to the frame on the 65 using just a bag plate to spread the load.

If you bolt the bags directly to the frame, what do you do about the airfitting. The Firestone bags have two mounting studs at the top and the airfitting is offset. That means to mount the bag i need to drill holes lengthwise and that pushes the airfitting out just under the edge of the frame. Cant mount it the other way because the frame is not wide enough for the studs. My son thinks he has a few sets of blocks in different heights. That seems to be the easiest fix if it works.

I added a 2" block to my suburban and It worked fine.

Use a 2" block.
(will help keep the ride height low with the correct air in the bag)

Bolt the bag directly to the frame with three holes.
(2 bag mounts, 1 air line fitting)

The center section of the rearend will hit the bed floor before the axle tube bottoms out in the bag.
(A bumpstop is required to prevent this)
