Early 90's steering column in square body?

I am in need of a column before to long. I am looking for something a little harder to find. A maanual tilt column w/ wiper delay and cruise. Its a hard animal to find in a square. But I have been looking at the early 90's Chevy truck and the columns appear to be very similar. I know in the 90's there was a lot more manual tilt columns installed and more had delayed wipers and cruise in those years. So I wondered if anyone has ever tried swapping one into a square. I haven't done any measurements yet but thought someone here might already know if this swap is possible.

Thanks

Re: Early 90's steering column in square body?

The early 90s columns(non squarebody) are 2" longer than the squarebody columns. Also on the early 90s columns the plate at the bottom that seals it to the floor is welded to the column. This could be removed and you could use a squarebody one but the length is the biggest issue. I guess you can do anything if you have enough time and ingenuity.

Re: Early 90's steering column in square body?

Ok thanks. Can you tell me if it is 2" longer from the 2 mounting bolt to the wheel or 2" longer from the 2 mounting bolt to the end of the steering stem?
