Need Help! Anyone here running 20's on their 47-59?
I got some 20x9 wheels for my 52. I was wondering if anyone else was running these and what tire sizes you found to work best? I am running a ford 9 inch rear and a Mustang II front.
Thanks! |

The widest you can go without tubbing the bed is a 255/45/20. I recommend a 245/45/20 or a 245/35/20 so you don't have to worry about rubbing on turns or with a load in the bed. I have 255/45/20 for my '49 and it is a very tight fit.

Do you know what offset you are running? I was really hoping to run at least a 275

I'm running 20 x 10 with a 275 x 45 x 20 tire. I have 2 3/4" mini tubs though. I wanted to go with 295 but there was no way that it would have fit.
My backspacing is 4" (providing a 6" lip). I'm using a reared out of a Grand National. Marc

255 is the widest, after that it rubs. If you want bigger you need tubs or widened fenders.

Re: Need Help! Anyone here running 20's on their 47-59?
There isn't room for wider than a 255 tire no matter what the rim diameter is. I ran 255-60-15 tires on my 48 for years with about a half inch clearance inside and out. Anything wider would require tubs.
Follow what Youngrodder has to say as he is one of the few that makes those big rims look proper on these trucks.

Re: Need Help! Anyone here running 20's on their 47-59?
I'm running 275/40ZR20 in the back on my '50. It had an updated rear end when I bought the truck, I was told it is out of a Chevelle. Once the rear end died, I had it rebuilt with 3:42 gears and Posi. I'm getting a little rubbing with the 245/45ZR18 in the front, we had to cut out the inner wheel well a little before and I may have to do that some more as when I'm turning full tilt I get a little rubbing, I'm sure we can fix it.
