57 Wheel/tire combo questions

I'm getting new shoes for my 57. The ones on there now are ancient and I am wanting to replace them with chrome smoothies. Questions are: There are 15x8's on there now with 235 rubber, all around. I am considering 15 x 7's on the front with either 215 or 225 65 15's, and 15 x 8 with 235 rubber in the rear. Plans in the future also include a 3" dropped axle in front and lowered springs in the rear. Will this combo work without any sort of wheelwell interference??

You'll get 3" lower in front with the dropped axle but you won't get it in back vs. nearly 60 year old stock leaf springs that have sagged. If you're thinking of using a dropped spring with the dropped axle you want to think of flipping your rearend on top of your springs.

Here is a table I put together for tire wheel combo. It is for 15" and has width and diameter. If you want the excel spreadsheet PM with a good email address and I can send it. I have the same for 13-22" diameter wheels.

I went with 16X7 smoothies from Wheel Vintiques.

Very good tire selection in that size and plenty of clearance for my disc brakes:

Both my Suburban's run 225/75/15 front on 7s and 235/75/15 rears with 8's. Neither are power steering and the 225s work fine. It would most likely give a lighter steer in a parking lot with 215s.
