Cargo Light Wiring Question
When I purchased my truck the cargo light was not connected and I'm wondering what the correct wiring scheme is for it. I know the interior dome light uses the orange/white wires which is turned on when the headlight switch is turned and connects the white wire to ground. Is the cargo lamp jumpered off of the dome lamp orange white wires or is there a seperate set of wires run for this? If it is jumpered this would mean that you would have to have the dome lamp turned on to make the cargo lamp work. Is this correct (I've made a diagram of what I'm thinking below)?

Re: Cargo Light Wiring Question
I added the cargo lamp to my truck over 20 years ago but don't remember whether I wired it or found a harness. What I can tell you is that currently mine is wired as you have it drawn. It will work without a problem, just can't swear if that's how GM built them been too long ago.

Re: Cargo Light Wiring Question
Close. The cargo lamp harness piggybacks the dome lamp circuit. The dome lamp will be on as it feeds the cargo lamp through the cargo lamp on/off switch. The ground side uses the same door and I/P switches.
