Can't have just one...

Well I was trying to wait til Thursday after I pick it up, but the excitement got the best of me. Buying a 66 Stepper from a farm about an hour from home. Here's few pics to look at.

Truck was purchased in Winchester, VA from B&M Chevrolet and lived it's life on a farm in VA. The person I am buying it from got it about 1 1/2 yrs ago to do as a project with his sons, but they never really got much done.

It has 83K miles on it, looks like the factory wood in the bed (bad shape), original seat, floor mat, it even had the original radio delete panel in the glove box.

Owner is going to try to get me some more info to get some more history on it.

Looking forward to getting this one on the road since the 62 is still on jack stands...

Nice! I know the feeling of getting tired of a truck sitting on jack stands.

Thanks guys for the comments,

I'm taking lots of pictures, gonna start a thread on both of them soon. I would like to be able to show what has been accomplished with all the advice and time spent on the forum.

Re: Can't have just one...

TJ,

Been on your thread for the last hour... guess I need to get a parts list from ya to make a hot rod 250.

Bringing it home tomorrow, I know it needs some brake work and a good going over. Just want to get back on the road in an old Chevy, my 62 has been out of commission since Nov.

Yeah...becareful. lol I bought a GMC that was supposed to me my "driver" until my chevy was done and I wound up throwing that in the shop to. lol Not by choice...but a head gasket was blown and it needed a good carb clean out. What do you want out of the 250? There's a ton of options for these engines. And I'd recommend subscribing here as well( you won't feel as lonely there) http://www.inliners.org/ubbthreads/u...s.php/ubb/cfrm You can turbo charge or even leave it naturally aspirated...you looking at street performance for when you take off from a stop light you'll eat up a 290/350 or are you looking to maybe just throw on a 4 barrel and headers and drop in a nice 5 speed to have an ultimate cruiser? Whatever you decide beats an orange 350 anyday. lol My 292 is a mild build...though some will disagree it really is. A 250 with the same parts will make a good 300 hp and 280 torque roughly....and is capable of more easily. I will warn you that parts aren't super cheap if you do it Right.

Re: Can't have just one...

The 66 is gonna be my daily driver once its in shape, so probably lean more towards a driver/cruiser w/ some attitude... been doing a little reading on putting a T5 trans in behind the 6's, sounds interesting. Really like the sound your producing out of old 292, so a header and some exhaust could happen. Thanks for the link on the 6 cyl site, will check it out.

The 62 has a 383 Stroker in it, Turbo 400 behind it. I put it in the shop in Nov with plans to re-seal the doors and within a matter of days it looked like this.

Got the 12 bolt rear in it, upgraded to 81 front crossmember w/ Disc brakes in the front, re-sealed the engine, ready to set the engine back in. Still haven't bought the door seals. Taken a bunch of pics and want to start threads on both trucks.

Thank for the comments!

Thanks, Yeah I used flowmaster 40 series mufflers. The 600 edelbrock and headers with the hei made a noticeable difference. I'd suggest head work, a cam, 307 V8 flat top pistons, 4 barrel and headers. That'll spruce it up a good bit for sure...and once built like that...no T5. lol You'll have that thing broken before you know it. I'm gonna be putting a tremic behind my 292 so I'll let you know how that goes. Will be fun bang shifting gears.

They were on the truck when I bought it, I think they are the American Racing Sliders.

Changed the 62 to 5 lug, so I may use them on the 66 but I think they look a little "flashy" for a farm truck.. this is using photoshop, what do you guys think?

When I picked the truck up yesterday, We settled up and the guy and he asked if I wanted the repair files that the original owner had passed onto him... Of course I did, he had the SPID tag from this highly optioned farm truck, some receipts for repairs from the dealer it was bought from. B&M Chevrolet of Winchester, VA, which is my hometown. and it means nothing to most people, but B&M eventually became Jim Stutzman Chevrolet and my son works there now as a tech.

It was pulled off the road and used primarily on the farm in 1991. Later given to a neighbor that had wanted to buy it for years.

PO was awesome to deal with, he felt bad selling me a truck that didn't have brakes, so he and his son worked on it til they got pedal enough to safely load it up before I got there. It was good enough to go for a spin around the neighborhood when we got home too.

Here's a couple of pic of the trip home. From the farm to the subdivision, hope it adjusts well.

It's a '63 but it has the wrong grill on it.. I'm still looking for a nice '63 grill to put on it. As for the caps.. I only have 3 too lol.. the passenger rear is missing.. our trucks really must be related lmao!

You going to keep this '66 farm-ish/patina/worn looking? I think it looks cool already!!
