Input Needed- Questions on Bagging my 2WD Jimmy

Hey everyone.

I'm finally at the point where I'm ready to make some purchases to bag my 79 Jimmy. There are some things that I am unclear about, and need help with. I have searched and searched more over the past few months.

Basically, I would like the current static height of my truck to be my normal ride height. I achieved this by cutting 2 coils off the front springs ( i know, i know) and doing a flip in the rear. The rear is sitting about 1" higher with air shocks in the pic BTW. Currently, no drop spindles, arms, etc. So it is roughly 4.5/5" drop.


MY INTENTIONS
I am not looking to lay frame as of yet, or do a drop member any time soon. Also not looking to drop/rise insanely fast. I'm quite alright with a few seconds of drop/rise.
For the Front, I am installing new energy suspension bushings and either 2" or 3" spindles (Haven't decided), and modify inner fenders accordingly.
For the rear, I am going to notch the frame so it can drop to the point where the axle housing contacts the floor ~4-5" inches. At this point, I am going to go with a bag over leaf or axle. I intend to pull a few leafs do acquire my drop. I need input from experience on which way to go here.

Tank (again- need help deciding)

If anyone can provide some input- here are my biggest questions:

FRONT
1. Which bag?
I thought I was going to buy firestones @ 4/$280 shipped, but I have been researching and keep finding people swearing by slam specialties- So I am convinced to buy those after reading all the positive feedback. . I really haven't a clue which bag to use, what size of that bag, etc. If there is a particular bag that works like a charm with our trucks, and provides nice Lexus type ride, I would love to hear some suggestions.

2. Cups Vs Plates?
I just don't understand which one to use and why. Is the purpose of the cups so the bag can collapse and be flush with the spring pocket for that much more drop/travel? I need education on this, and searching isn't helping for some reason.


REAR
Bag over leaf? Bag over Axle?
Are there some serious pros/cons to either of these setups seeing as how I intend to drop the truck 4-5" when aired out? I'm not against a 4 link, I'm just not ready yet.


TANK
I am clueless as to what size tank to get. I'm sure once bagged, I'll be like a kid on christmas morning with the truck. But My normal intentions are to just air down when I'm parked for a while/cruise nights/every night? I Don't want the compressor to run every single time I make an adjustment, but also would like to keep some cargo space if the tank has to be inside the truck.


Finally...Any suggestions on where to purchase from? Local Chicago area would be nice. Any place with good prices or package deals that ships reasonably and quickly is great too.


Anyways, I think that's all my rambling for now. I seriously appreciate any input/suggestions/experience/etc.

Any 2600 or 7" bag will work in front. I run the contitech Zs. Airlift 2600 are also good option.
You can use cups or plates on the lower arm. Plates are nicer because the bag has something nice to rest on. Plates are a must for the front upper mounting unless you have fab skills.

And you need drop spindles too. They help with the camber and toe.

The airlift dominator 2600 bags seem like a good option and price. I couldn't find Contitech "Z" series bags when I checked their site.

I am not really particular on the type os spindle, as long as it is reputable. DJM worked out well for me in the past. I may go with that again. FYI- I plan to keep the stock wheels for now, and my rotors are the 1.25" wide ones. I should be able to do a 3" spindle from what I have read.

Now on pickups, does everyone run the same LB bags in the rear? I'm guessing that my truck has a little more weight to it than a pickup, especially considering when the top is on. In addition to that, I can ride two more people in the rear seat as long as I don't cut up the floor for more drop in the future. Just trying to figure out what bag to run out back.

After doing some more price comparisons, I think I have changed my mind about the York. I found dual Viair 444c compressors, 5 gal tank, pressure switch, relays, hose- $340 total. That setup should run a minimal amount of time- noisy buzzing for a long time was my initial concern.

I'm liking the front brackets that have plates for upper and lower. Looks like it would be a very clean look, and potentially less places for the bag chafing. Correct me if I'm wrong here.

I'm still not sure on what bag to run in the back. I'm assuming that the 2600's on all 4 corners would be ideal.

Also not sure if there is any benefit to installing on the leaf vs axle.

I don't personally know anybody with a bagged truck. Thats my reasoning for all the questions here.

jermasaurus I would continue your research by contacting any of the Forum Venders that offer kits for your Blazer. The front is common to all 73-87 C10s so thats going to be easy to accommodate. The rear of a Blazer is a bit tricky but it has been done many times with out major modifications.

I suggest you contact Travis at ProPerformance for in depth details.
