Could anybody tell me what rear end this is please?

First off let me say Thanks! I just got a 87 lwb and this site has been so helpful.

So I got a killer deal on this r10. It has a long road to be road worthy, but it has this rear end in the bed when i got it. Any info or input would be helpful.

Thanks again.

Without seeing the cover bolt pattern I would say it is from a late 80's to early 90's gen 3 model Firebird or Camaro.

Yeah, I'll get some better photos. It's Positraction, and spins great. Not sure if it's worth the work to fit it to this.

Re: Could anybody tell me what rear end this is please?

Can't see the cover so...
Springs with no link mounts so it's not a mid 90's B Body SS/9C1/9C3.
Probably from an F Body chassis but not sure which generation.

BTW the casting # pic is upside down... Might be nice to wire brush it and wipe on some oil to highlight the numbers too.

Re: Could anybody tell me what rear end this is please?

that is a Dana 35 from most likely a gen 3 Firebird or Camaro. Not exactly the strongest axle to put in a truck. They are known to be weak and snap axle shafts regularly amongst the Jeep owners. The 10 bolt you have is a better axle.

Yeah! Thanks so much for the info! I think you're right about it being too weak for the truck. I'm thinking of selling it or something.

Re: Could anybody tell me what rear end this is please?

Just a guess but I think it is too narrow for a square anyway.

Re: Could anybody tell me what rear end this is please?

I believe that is a Borg Warner 9 bolt. And I agree that its a pre 89 third gen F-body axle

Re: Could anybody tell me what rear end this is please?

Yeah its a 9 bolt from a 3rd gen f body,And i don't think the brakes will fit anything else. Its a aussie axle and the housing flanges have a odd shape and size to them.

The front rims on your truck look like they are off a gmc safari/chevy astro if your wondering that.

Yeah? They are really tall, I was thinking 90s Silverado. They got to go, maybe move them to the spare.
