Locking tailgate

Just wondering if anyone knows of a locking tailgate mechanism. I'm not talking about the type of lock that prevents the tailgate from being removed, but rather a lock that keeps the tailgate from being opened.

I assume you are talking fleet-side. I've never seen one, but I envision a lock cylinder installed through the pull handle with a blade that turns down or to the side, engages the lip of the tailgate and prevents one from pulling the handle up. Don't really know if it's feasible, but if I were to fashion one that would be one idea to kick around. I would think it should be installed off to one side to not interfere with one's hand.

Just something crude to inhibit movement of the handle.

Re: Locking tailgate

I know Pop n Lock makes kits for all the newer trucks to work with the power door locks. I just installed one on my ford and is the best mod that Ive done. never have to worry if I left it locked or open, if doors are locked then tailgate is too. Now looking at adapting a universal kit to work on my c10. C10 tailgates seem to go missing easily because there are not as readily available anymore. Was on here looking to see if anyone has done this yet as Im not sure yet what needs to be done inside the gate to make this work.
