1965 GMC fleetside - is it worth the price
Hi guys I normally post in the 73-87 section and no I am not selling this truck, I like them though and was wondering if you can give me your expert opinion on weather this one is worth the $7K, it is attractive because it is an all original short bed one owner farm truck (like my '74 was) and a 4 speed manual
1965 GMC fleetside pickup. Bought from original owner local solano county farm truck. 4 speed manual. inline 6 cylinder. Short bed. Sm back window. All original. Original white with patina. Came out of the oakland plant according to vin#. No floor in bed. Truck runs. Needs tires. Clean title, registered non-op. Last edited by Gregski; 05-15-2015 at 09:17 PM. |

Re: 1965 GMC fleetside - is it worth the price
7K is a bit high in my opinion..if it had a 305 v6 and p/s and p/b I'd say jump on it...the fact it is an original short box full side makes the price a bit higher in itself. If it runs good and can drive you home....$3000 would be tops for me.
I paid $500 for a 3/4 ton 64 GMC with a 305E and p/s and p/b and I drove it home...so its hard for me to say 7K is a good price for that. lol I'd say 3000 tops. Maybe 4000 cause its a short box.

Re: 1965 GMC fleetside - is it worth the price
If I were interested it would be worth about half that much to me. Primarily because cosmetics and rust repair can be very expensive. Sinking $3-$4,000 might result in a value of $7,000. I'd have no incentive to spend that much as it sits now as additional labor and money could end up providing no return on the investment.

Re: 1965 GMC fleetside - is it worth the price
thank you very much guys I thought it was high too, I don't know the first generation trucks as much as I do mine ie the third generation square bodies, all I know based on price observations an my opionions is short beds are more desirable (expensive) than long beds and second gens are more desirable (expensive) than third gens, but I didn't know where first gens fit

You have a few to choose from in your area around $7000. Here are two that may not be what your looking for but in that range.

Re: 1965 GMC fleetside - is it worth the price
are you sure its an inline? it has the v6 badges.
just to counter whats been said, a gmc shortbed is a real hens tooth to me, meaning rare, if I was in the market for one and it wasnt rusted to hell it would be worth more than 3-4k to me. there is almost 2500 just in clean sheetmetal on that truck counting the bed and gmc tailgate, front fenders and gmc hood, and gmc 4 light grille. if it had a big rear window it would be 6-7k to me, I have seen big window short bed chevys SELL for that, never mind asking, so a small window gmc with all the unique parts, probably close. just my crappy opinion worth what it cost.

Re: 1965 GMC fleetside - is it worth the price
See, thank you very much, that's exactly why I asked you guys for advice, I didn't even realize that. I also forgot that gen 1 offered both the V6 and the I6. I think I am going to email that guy and ask for a pic of the engine.
thanks again, I am learning |

Re: 1965 GMC fleetside - is it worth the price
I thought about this truck awfully hard, but I hated what they did to the front end (by painting it black) so I thought I could always change it with my front end, and it would look better.......
....Wait........ stupid me, I sold this front end 2 months before they listed this truck.

Re: 1965 GMC fleetside - is it worth the price
I just bought a 66 short bed fleet c10. I paid 3k for it. I didnt run and drive but I spend 30 bucks on a carb kit and it now runs and drives. Similiar condition. I feel like I paid a fair price?
Also mine was a v8 327 |

Re: 1965 GMC fleetside - is it worth the price
I paid 3k for my 66 short fleet and drove it home. All it "needed" was a carb spacer cuz the acc. pump was hitting on the intake and I had to shoot starter fluid in the carb to start it and the dist. was getting a little loose so I put a new one in. I could have driven it like that but... lol If you can drive it home 3k is a fair price maybe even up to 4k. The shortbeds are getting scarce.

Re: 1965 GMC fleetside - is it worth the price
If the tk is rust free--fenders-rockers-floors-windshield-roof-cab corners? if excellent shape, price is right on. Now is the big question--if not in that shape are you going to do the work replacing all the rusted sheet metal, are farm it out? price can double quick.

at least he replied. I ignore guys who text me with half price offers. I even resist replying when they give me their ironclad logic on why my price is too high.

It may not be worth it to him to sell it for less.

Re: 1965 GMC fleetside - is it worth the price
That guy had three 60-66 trucks on CL a few weeks ago, including this one. I guess he sold the other two. I agree this truck's price seems more in line.
