1964 GMC 230cid Inline 6 Transmission Swap
Hello Fellas..
Im pretty new to this forum and need some guidence. I currently own a 1964 GMC Fleetside with a 230 engine inline 6 w/3 on the tree. I like to change it to a automatic. I'm planning on keeping the original 230 engine. Is is the possible to do the following... replace the transmission to TH350? What would be needed to make this work? adapter? I came across a TH350 from a 1985 Monte Carlo. I will be replacing my steering column to accommodate the automatic. Thanks. |

Re: 1964 GMC 230cid Inline 6 Transmission Swap
I wasn't able to find anything regarding the 230 engine / TH350 engine adaption... I like to know if I need to change the bellhousing or just buy an adapter to be able to fit the TH350 tranny.. what advise can you give me?

No adapter needed. Bellhousing pattern is the same. You will need flexplate, torque converter, different rear mount, kickdown and some way to shift it. Will also need to remove pilot bushing from crankshaft.
