accuair sensor harness?

Anyone here with e-level ever cut down the sensor harness and solder the wires back together? The harnes is way longer then needed. I could probably cut out 12 - 15' of the harness. Anyone see any problems with doing this?

I haven't seen the harness but I imagine it uses pinned connectors on one or both ends.

Can you use a pin extractor and see what kind of end is on the wire? You may be able to put another pin on the ends after shortening the wires. Obviously doing one at a time would be best. I have done it a few times with GM weatherpack connectors. But I imagine that they don't use weatherpacks so it may be difficult to find the ends.

I actually just ordered the parts so I can do this a few days ago. The connectors for the 4 elevel sensors are Tyco, SuperSeal 1.5MM, Male, 282087-1.

You can order the connectors, pigtails, and release tool here. He doesn't sell the terminals for some reason though.

I don't want a soldered butt connection so I ordered the terminals and wire seals from this guy so I can re-crimp mine

I think they are basically a weatherpack crimp. Guess I'll know if a few days. I went ahead and just ordered new connectors too. I know if I don't I'll screw up and break a couple of them and then be waiting even longer. They are pretty cheap insurance anyway.

Oh and if you are interested the pressure sensor is a Delphi 12065287, Metri-Pack 150, Female Connector. I wanted to fish mine thru the frame so I bought the release tool here. I tried and tried to use a watch screwdriver but couldn't get it to release.

I shortened mine last night and took out a few feet. I just cut it and soldered and heat shrink each lead. Took a ten minutes at best. My main concern was it made it a lot easier to route through the frame.

Btw, I called accuair and that is what hey recommended after I suggested re pinning the harness.
