Fulfilling One Of My Truck Dreams
-
I had too many pickups and no Mini Heavy Haulers so I did some horse trading with member “Kingsolver72”. I have always liked this C-30 and when I saw he was getting rid of it I contacted him about it. The wife and I made a flying trip to Kansas to deliver the Red/White ’70 C-20 and bring this baby home. I am planning on swapping the granny low 4 speed for an NV4500 that I just purchased from member “Ozzy2013”. It should be here next Tuesday. It’s a nice truck and I can’t wait to start driving it…. A big thanks to Scott and Roger for helping to make one of my truck dreams come true. LockDoc

I have zero use for a flat bed but I must admit, I'd love to have one.

Re: Fulfilling One Of My Truck Dreams
Your not helping me, I've kinda been wanting to work on my flat bed this past week I bought some Alcoa wheels but then when I saw I had to have some [dang near]$150 lug nuts I think I'm gonna take them back. The junk yard down the road has a Chevy dually rear end [from a square] to change out to get a better gear ratio. I am thinking about converting to automatic trans I have a TH400 and a couple 4l80e laying around. The 400 makes the most sense to me no more than I would drive it. I wished I had some stakes sides like yours, I would haul off several loads of scrap sheet metal it is really piling up. Super nice truck. Jim

Re: Fulfilling One Of My Truck Dreams
Glad you got home safe. I am so glad that we traded trucks. I am wondering what you'll bring to Riverside if you plan on making it this year. Hey thanks again for the asparagus.

Re: Fulfilling One Of My Truck Dreams
Nice truck! You will love that NV4500. Ive never retrofitted one but had a 93 k2500 with one with over 200k miles that had never been out. It had a lower first gear than the 94 c2500 6.5t rd I bough with a bad nv4500. You probably already know this, but be sure to use the recommended (not inexpensive) synthetic oil. I have heard horror stories about guys trying to save a few bucks and using 90w gear oil and burning the trans up. On the 94 I drained the fluid and guess what? Thick 90w oil ran out! Parted that truck and made money, since it wasn't wrecked.

I had to have a bigger truck to pull the trailer all the way to Maryland. My wife kicked me out so I am coming to live with you. I figure if I take 70 all the way across it will put me right at your doorstep.... LockDoc

I have every intention of making it to White House this year, I hope it works out. I have to go to JQ2's in Killen,AL for a cab and that's just 140 +/- miles below the show, so no-brainer there. I have motor issues I need to solve first, so it pends on timing for that. I'm about to get into it with a month to go. If it was a 100% sure thing I'd say I''ll bring you the tranny. I have a grille to pick up from Ozzy as it is. I've run two trucks with NV4500, the first I bought new. I found out right away when Jiffy Lube told me they couldn't change the trans lube. I ran to the dealer and supplied the juice. I have no idea what the hocus pocus is all about, but I never put anything but the GM product in either truck
