12.5x33 vs 10.5x33 BFG for ride quality?
I put on new BFG All terrains a month ago on American racing Outlaw two 15x10s as I couldnt find nice rallys.
I wish I had gotten a little thinner tire looks wise now but would 10.5s also give a improvement in ride? The roads here in Fort Worth seem to be the worst ever for our area and I will not every take my K5 in any real off road driving its just too pretty. Just wondering opinions as I think I found some rally's I am going to buy they are 15x8s and I think 10.5 would be the max width correct? Any reason these wouldn't work on my 72 4x4? Thanks PG http://www.ebay.com/itm/281692541492...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Last edited by PGG; 06-02-2015 at 02:02 PM. |

I never had a problem running a 12.50 tire on rallies, but please tell me the set you linked to arent what you are buying? If so i better buy all the sets i can find and restore them on the side for that kind of number. Trevor

Re: 12.5x33 vs 10.5x33 BFG for ride quality?
I have been trying to find a clean set for some time now with no luck.
I hate the idea of paying $800 but the only other set I found super clean also on eBay was $650 plus $169 shipping so even worse. I have been getting close to just buying these as I am tired of messing with it but want a clean set. You know of a deal somewhere please inform me? Thanks PG |

I run 15X8 Chevy rally wheels with 12.50X33 BFG all-terrains on them. No problems with fit or with the ride (considering it is a Blazer, after all).

Re: 12.5x33 vs 10.5x33 BFG for ride quality?
PG, those are gorgeous wheels, and not a horrible price. There's a lot of work to get wheels to that point.
With all due respect Trevor you should know better than giving someone grief about what they pay for something. I am sure you have bought plenty of things for your gorgeous trucks that cost a pretty penny. Those are gorgeous wheels, and as someone who has blasted and painted ralley wheels, and searched for perfect center caps and trim rings, I don't think $800 is a bad price for turn-key rallies. There are pickups selling for $20,000 in beautiful condition, yet there are guys paying $500 for a similar pickup that only needs $10,000 in materials and thousands of man hours to get it into the same $20,000 truck's condition. So who is the winner there? Probably both guys.

If you like the wide look maybe think about these. I like 10in wheels just couldn't afford them

Re: 12.5x33 vs 10.5x33 BFG for ride quality?
As far as ride quality, my personal experience has been that the skinnier tires ride better on the street. I like the look of wide tires but they are heavier, hydroplane easier and tend to grab grooves in the road and wander more. Just my .02 cents.

Re: 12.5x33 vs 10.5x33 BFG for ride quality?
Heres a set for $200 without caps, but blasted and painted. Caps cant be worth the extra $600 even rechroming some originals is all i am saying here. They arent rare items, they put them on almost every square body half ton from atleast 78-87. Sorry, for being insensative to the original poster. I'm like everyone else and like to save money where i can. Trevor

Re: 12.5x33 vs 10.5x33 BFG for ride quality?
No worries on my sensitivity I just have been looking and my time is worth something too. I agree a set for half that I would buy in a second I have now spent two months trying to find them for a good price with no luck.
I posted wanting everyone's opinion so I do appreciate them all even if I end up paying $800 for the freaking things I wanted the experts thoughts first. Thanks PG |

Re: 12.5x33 vs 10.5x33 BFG for ride quality?
I'm running BFG A/T 33x10.5x15s on mine. I think the ride quality is decent. Pretty bouncy, but seems to track well and doesn't get hung up in groves. I think if I aired them down a bit, it would smooth out the ride.
I will note that I am not running a lift and can go full steering lock without tire rub. I have done some off roading (nothing extreme), but I have had the rear tires rub twice now. I prefer the skinnier tire look. I feel its more authentic to the era.
