Newbie requset
Hello everybody,
Name here is Chris from Reno,Nevada. Will post a full intro soon. I have a quick question about the 81-87 model Chevy/GM trucks. Can someone please post some pictures of the cab trim (back of cab) of the 81 and on trucks? I have an 81 K20 and really think the trim really looks good on there. I understand that this model truck also had thinner mouldings compared to previous years ? Second question, Is it bad to want to re-badge my Custom Deluxe as a Scottsdale ? I just have loved the Scottsdales since I was a youngster. Thanks in advance. |

Badges.........we don't need any STINKING BADGES!!!!!!!
Welcome to the board. This is your ride where you can do whatever you want. Sorry but no pics, but I suggest you google your particular model and just look through the images to find out what you need.

Re: Newbie requset
I'm assuming this is what you want a pic of. Mine is a 86 Silverado.

Re: Newbie requset
The corners are actually this color. Mine are in the background, paint wasn't very good, so I cleaned all the paint off and just repainted the bow tie black.

Re: Newbie requset
Thanks for the replies. Now if I could only get time to work on my truck I'd be sooo much happier.
Eyegore - I already bought the Scottsdale k-20 badges so I guess it will just happen. wilkin250r - Do you have an album or build thread for your truck on here ? TKCR - Very nice looking truck you have there. I can only hope mine turns out that clean looking. |

Re: Newbie requset
No album or build thread for me, but an interesting story. One of those lucky opportunites.
I had a friend that is "mechanically declined" with a car that didn't run. So for a six-pack of beer, I towed the car away, a crappy little Ford Tempo. Getting it running was easy enough, but it still had lots of little problems, so I spent about $250 at the local Pick-N-Pull and fixed up that Tempo real nice. Opportunity #1, Free car!!! Found an ad on craigslist, a guy had bought this truck just two weeks prior, but then his living situation changed so he needed to sell the truck and buy a small commuter car. I know just the guy!!! Opportunity #2. A handshake and some signatures, and I'm into that big beautiful truck for a whopping $250.

Re: Newbie requset
Very nice truck as well. Im just going to do a 6 in lift with 35's and change the exhaust to duals all the way back instead of this 2 into 1 setup that's on there now.
I also have the color "Gunmetal Grey" in my mind for paint. But want to try and two-tone it somehow. There are tons of ideas for my truck running in my mind right now. Just need time to sit down and put it all down on paper. And now after seeing your truck I have a few more thoughts. hhmmm .. |

Re: Newbie requset
Everybody has their own tastes. Personally, I think the fancier paint jobs like two-tones and such belong on stock trucks. Once you start lifting them, I like basic, solid colors.
A 6-inch lift and 35s is a great-looking truck, and was actually my plan before I got this one. And Gunmetal grey is an excellent color, I don't think you can go wrong with any of the basic colors: black, blue, white, grey. My truck is a (slow) work in progress. I know it looks nice in the photo, but it's actually in poor shape, barely driveable. The paint is awful, the only thing good about the interior is the seat isn't in bad shape, but the REST of it is terrible, no gauges other than temp and speedometer, and no heater. Very little rust, though, that's one of the benefits of our dry climate here in the high desert.
