You know that sound??
You know that sound when someone drives by you and you think man why dont they just put some power steering fluid in that thing....
Well I have that sound, I really have that sound when my truck is cold... but after it warms up... then I have it when I accelerate from a stop sign or a stop light... Lastes probably a few seconds or so... But man does it suck!! So about a month or two ago I installed new belts, topped off my power steering fluid and now I have this annoying noise.... Do you think the belt is to tight?? Thanks for your help... 1979 Chevy Longbed (350ci)

clutch maybe? or something with the transmission?
...I don't know I had that similar sound on my mustang and changed my belt, and it turned out to be the release bearing on the clutch making the noise |

I had that sound. Changed the belts, topped off the fluid, and it didn't go away. I installed a new power steering pump and the sound hasn't been back since.

Yep, our forum chic mechanic hit the nail right on the head.
Change the pump and it will stop.

In addition to changing the pump, don't ever let your fluid get low. Once it does, it damages the pump and it will always make that noise even after you fill it back up.

I've got the same problem here. Sounds like when I get a new front end I'll take the pump off and get it replaced.

Hmm..mine screams everytime I slam the gas hard. It's just like a quick "REAP!" Other than that, it's nothing. I think my belt might be too tight...
