loud banging from drivers side back end
Hello,
I have a 1968 Chevy C10. It drives straight and narrow but whenever I hit the smallest of bumps or potholes the truck makes a terrible metal on metal "bang." I have looked around under the truck and tried to listen to the exact location of the sound but I cannot figure it out. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help. T. Is your truck lowered? Riding on the bump stops? Shock bushing or shock worn out? Bed mounted loose on the frame?

It could be coming from the trailing arm that bolts to the rear end housing. Remove the two nuts at the U bolt on each side and slide on another washer, then the nut and retighten. This worked for me for the time being...

Look at the shock mounts and have someone bounce the truck. My truck had loose bolts and it did the same thing. Sometimes the holes will get reamed from bouncing up and down.
