Porterbuilt A-Arms problem.

Hey guys got the steering hooked up the other day and ran into a problem witht the rim rubbing on the swaybar mount when the wheel is turned. These wheels are just temporary but I dont think I have read about this before. The wheels are 19". I'm hoping when I order the new wheels this wont be a problem. Has anyone else had this happen?

Which configuration arms did you get?? I have 1 inch forward lower arms on order.

Mine are doing the same thing, 1" forward and 1" narrowed. I have 18x9.5" Z06 replicas with 1.5" spacers for mock up. I'll have to relocate the sway bar mount so I can run 18x11" like I'd planned.

Mine are 9.5" wide, +57 offset with a 1.5" spacer. So around +19 offset. That works out to 6" backspacing.

With the PB control arms, you can only run so much backspacing on the wheels, due to that sway bar tab.

I'm running the PB/Addco bar with stock control arms and get the rub. The issue is that the bar is just so wide--great for leverage, bad for tire/wheel clearance.

Talking to Dave at PB, he recommends no more than 5.25 BS with the bar. My 20x8.5s w/ 5.25 just barely rub...

What have you guys with wide front tires done to accommodate? I'd like to bump up to a wider front wheel/tire combo. Seems like weld a new tab and use a narrower bar is a potential fix.

This is something I have been taking into consideration for a while. The good news is now that we are building all our sway bars in house... and finally have them in production... I will be doing a re-design on the sway bar tabs and building a new sway bar that will allow a wider wheel/deeper backspace.

damn, I had no idea this was a problem or that I should even inquire about it honestly(lesson learned) when I ordered my 1" fwd Lower Control Arms. I plan to run a wide front tire/wheel as well......what will my options be if I run into the same issue?

If you run into the same issue just give us a call and we will help determine a solution.

The sway bar tab has been in the same location for 8 years... LOTS and LOTS of arms out there. This really hasn't been much of a concern. But as mentioned above... feel free to follow up with us if you have any concerns.

Dam. Now I am a bit concerned since I plan on running 305 tires up front with wheels measuring 6 inch backspacing. I hope I don't run into these issues as well.
