Steering Column Conversion
I have a 1982 C/10 with a non tilt column, column shift automatic. I want to convert to a tilt column. I have found a tilt column out of a 1985 C/10 that has tilt, cruise, delay wipers, and high and low beam on the column also. I cannot seem to find a column with wipers in the dash without all the extras. Is it possible to put this nicer steering column in mine and make it work without having to rewire the entire truck?

It is a lot of wiring. A 1979-1983 tilt column will work for you and is a direct bolt in with no wiring changes.

You can use the 85 column in your 82. All the plugs are independent of one another. The only thing you have to do is plug in the ignition switch and the blinkers harness. The dimmer switch, wiper switch, and cruise control can be left unused on the 85 column. Leave your current 82 wiper switch and dimmer switch plugged in and it will work fine.

thanks, im planning to try it,
I see that CLASSIC INDUSTRIES sells the pulse wiper relay switch. I wonder if I purchase that module if I can switch my wipers over to pulse wipers....anybody know if the windshield wiper motor is the same on both? |

I recently bought a rebuilt 79-83 auto trans tilt column from this guy. Nice column, great support.

Paid $1200; sold for $1500 a few years later. Just a hint at the appreciation that was coming. Retired as a factory automation products salesman.
