Do not do this...
No picture, because it's self explanatory. At Mecum Seattle last weekend (or 2) I saw one of our trucks with a big sign on the gas cap not to fill there.
The tank had been relocated. The gas cap just went into the filler neck but the cab tank was removed. So if someone borrowed the truck (or even full serve I guess) it's easily set up to pop the gas cap and fill the cab with fuel! At a minimum, close off the hole or lock the cap in place. There are a number of threads on how to do it, but do -something-

Re: Do not do this...
This is crazy not closing off the filler neck. Could be trouble around the corner...

Re: Do not do this...
Figured one of the guys here in Oregon trying to fill up the truck would try the cap in the cab at one point, so until I patch the hole, I used the trick I found here on the site - used the stock cap, carriage bolt, nut and big washer on the inside. No way they're gonna get that open LOL!
Having a cap on it that comes off? Asking for trouble! |

Re: Do not do this...
Why leave the cap there if it's not operable? Seems it should have been shaved.

I shaved mine when I did my under bed tank. I would just install a locking gas cap or just stuff the filler full of red rags (under the cap) so people would see the rags when the cap was removed... but for me, it would actually never be a problem as I never let anyone drive my truck.

Re: Do not do this...
I borrowed a truck with a rusted out in cab tank once. The owner didn't remember to tell me about only using the saddle tank. It was dark so gas poured out from under the seat out the door splashing on my feet before I new there was a problem. Made for a toxic 50 mile trip to pick up and engine.
Amazing the dumb chances we take when we're young and desperate

A good way for malicious conduct to be executed. Not that I would think of such a thing, but lets say a snake, fox scent...use your imagination
