What is the purpose of a closed ended grommet?
Picked up a set with a PCV grommet and breather grommet but the breather grommet was closed ended. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of it?

Re: What is the purpose of a closed ended grommet?
It can function as either a plug or a grommet, depending on what is needed, with one set of tooling. Only one part to stock rather than two.
If you have a valve cover with a PCV hole that needs to be plugged you can use the grommet as is. For use with a breather or PCV valve you just cut the center out. It also forces you to do the additional work, rather than them (cheaper for the manufacturer). Just like getting your own drinks at McDonalds. You are paying them to let you do the work for them. K

Yeah maybe they leave it to you, to poke a hole if you want.
