ok so my 72 I'm restoring has a little issue with the section under the driver door. I need to know how to fix it. the entire section under the door is rotting away, the rest of my floorboards are fine. . . how do i go about correcting this before it spreads.(assuming it wil.) I know nothing about trucks so this restoration project could wind up ruining the truck, I'm hoping to learn as i go, with out killing the truck, we'll see I guess.

Welcome to the board. The area you are referring to is the rocker panel. They are fairly easy to replace but it depends on what sort of skills and tools you have to work with. If you have the proper equipment like a MIG (Metal Inert Gas) aka wire feed welder and know how to use it then its a cinch. You can buy a replacement panel by order thru one of the suppliers on this board. There are a few other members living in Alaska. Perhaps they know some local suppliers who carry what you are looking for.

Take your sill plate off and pull back the carpet, mat or whatever and find the extent of the damage. What you see on the outside could have big roots. Take pictures, post them here, and folks can give you some good advice.

Welcome to the board from another "A" state, Arkansas. It canbe done at home with proper tools and lots of patience. Put some pics up and someone will steer you in the right direction. Here is how far I had to go to fix my drivers side.

Look through some of the online catalogs patch panel sections for pictures and descriptions and compare them to your rusty parts.

Attached Images __________________ 68 c-10,91 sportside bed,350 .030 over,4 bolt,10-1 comp,2.05 intake/1.94 exhaust,1.6 Harland Sharp roller rockers,edelbrock rpm cam and intake w/750 carb, 700r4, 3.73 gears,Jacabbs Electronic Igntion w/Accel HEI distributer and super coil. ZR-1 roll pan, filled tailights. Blazer tank. Hidden hitch. 2 1/2" Flowmaster 40's. Parts bought but not installed>> ford 9" posi with disc. CCP front and rear lowering kit 4/5. Cab corners,foor boards,rockers, cab braces, Phatom grill, Painless wiring kit.
