Good morning all,

I know this question has been asked a thousand times but......What headers does anyone recomend that will fit correctly, will not leak and do not cost too much for my 71 Burb 4WD with a 350 and sm465. Does the clutch linkage pose a problem? How about Dynomax? Do they work well? Thanks!

In my opinion after running, selling and installing them DYNOMAX is the best for sm block, big block and inlines for these trucks.

If you don't have angle plug heads, I believe that you have to run short plugs designed specifically for headers. We ran into this problem on my moms car, she runs Dynomax as well. They look awsome.

we use Hooker competition headers and they almost always fit correctly and the have thicker flanges then other brands
thicker flanges = less warp and less leaks
but they do cost more than other brands

2nd the Hooker comps.....they arent cheap tho! Mine fit so nice on my 2wd, that my only regret is that I didnt spend the extra cash for ceramic coating....crazyL

OK here is another question. How do I tell the difference between angled plug heads and ?. I did not realize there were different plug locations. The Hooker web site states their headers will not work with angled plug heads. What did the 71s come with? Will the Dynomax fit? They did not specify angled or not on their web site.

Anything factory on the sb will be a straight plug head......aftermarket can be had either way, as well as some of the Gm perf offerings (over the counter only). crazyL

Hooker comp's are what I run fit really nice and do not leak..

I ran dyno max's and they fit good but I changed to angle plug heads and had to get new headers the only ones I could find for the angle plugs were doug thorlyes and they are awsome have really thick flanges and come with really good gaskets. I talked to them on the phone and they said they will work with a manual or auto tranny.

I have Heddman headers and they fit great. I haven't had problems with blowing gaskets as long as i check the bolts to make sure they are tight and use good gaskets. But Hooker headers are better. The cost twice as much but are great headers. My heddman's have been on the truck for over 2 years and so far i really dont have any complaints, for $104 anyway.

Thanks again guys. Jegs lists the Dynomax for $99, Hedman for $119 and Hooker Comps for $156. All painted of course. It may be worth the extra $60 for the Hooker Comps.
