4x4 Headers??
I bought a set of Dougs 372Y headers and sure enough they don't fit even though they say they are for a 4wd. The passenger side collector was dumping right on the rear shackle bolt for the spring. I called them and they were unaware of the issue even though I found several sites where people with a 69-72 4wd have had this issue and even called them for help. The options used were to use a huge bar to try and move the collector or cut it off and re-weld it. I have no desire to do either so back they go. My question is what are others running on their 4wd? I am thinking of getting some mid length or shorty style. I have heard the Sanderson headers can leak on an aluminum head which is what I am running so I wont go with them. I'm trying not to spend a small fortune but willing to spend up to 700 for a nice set.

Mine look the same. Are those ORD shackle mounts?

Re: 4x4 Headers??
Yep. At first I thought maybe it was the ORD shackles much thicker than the originals, but after looking at your picture that eliminates that possibility.

Re: 4x4 Headers??
Double checked their site and the part number is #2453-1HKR and follow the "break-in" instructions or you'll have problems with the finish getting dull. If you need pics let me know

Re: 4x4 Headers??
FYI on those headers. Looks like the 1HKR designates silver ceramic coating. However the 2453-HKR model headers are the same ones with a black ceramic coating and are less than half the price. I found them at advance auto and on amazon with a quick search for under $200 delivered.
Amazon.com: Hooker 2453HKR Competition Ceramic... Has anyone been able to use the Headman 69090 headers? Amazon.com: Hedman 69090 Chevy P/U 2 & 4 Wd...

Re: 4x4 Headers??
I called headman yesterday and they gave me the part number you listed. Only turn off for me was they aren't coated and the summit brand are not much more in price with coating. I believe they are headman headers with a summit brand stamped on them. They should arrive today and if they come early I'll test fit them right away.
As far as those hookers that is dirt cheap on Amazon. I ran that part number on summit and Amazon is less than half. Quote:

The amazon price is actually more than at Advance Auto when you factor in their 15% off sale and free shipping.

Re: 4x4 Headers??
Here's some pictures of the headers installed. I had them ceramic coated in titanium. I like the look and they fit well. Now I have to figure out a way to connect them without running to a shop. I'll probably get some summit bent pipe and some walker clamps. I've seen good reviews on them but could always weld them in the future if needed.

Re: 4x4 Headers??
That's a good price. I ordered a set of summit brand headers yesterday after calling Stans. They have a 1 month wait and was too long for me. If the summit brand don't fit I'll try the hookers.

Re: 4x4 Headers??
The summit headers didn't fit. I have a different set coming. If they don't fit Stan's will be on order.

Re: 4x4 Headers??
Any update on the latest set? Although I'm set with mine, still curious for future reference.

Re: 4x4 Headers??
Yea I ended up getting a set of Hedman 69010 shorties. They do say they are for 2wd but they looked like they would fit so I took a chance since I could always return them. They fit perfect and don't contact anything. I paid 200 for them from summit racing and will be getting them coated local. I'll be taking them down Monday and will shoot some pictures when I get them installed. One suggestion is buy the header studs. I tried to get the rear bolt in on the passenger side and had almost no room. After some cussing I remembered I had purchased the studs a while back and it was night and day. I'm not sure if this is the case with other brands but definitely for these particular headers.

Re: 4x4 Headers??
I had the same problem years ago. Took the header to local iron shop, welded the head side flange to the table, then heated the tubes and bent the entire header in a little bit. The headers are now sitting in the 4wd pile in my yard, I am almost done with my 2wd conversion. Not that it will help here but I just installed 1 3/4" mid length Headmans on my conversion and the fit pretty good.

Re: 4x4 Headers??
Do you have a part number for the hedmans? The hedmans I installed say 2wd but they fit so maybe they have never mocked them up on a 4wd truck.

Re: 4x4 Headers??
Try these, Hedman 69892 it's what I used on my K5 and have no issues with them rubbing on the shackles.
