Offer $1500 and go get her. If the 6.0 turns out fine you would have done really well. A 6.0 is at least a $1000 engine all day long, some go for $1500 and up. The NV4500 is at least $600. Clutch and special flywheel (depending which flywheel was used) will set you another $500 minimum. I would be interested to find if the driveshaft is hooked up, that will save you $200 to have it shortened and balanced. You will still need a harness (if he does not have one) that will run you about $600. I just finished doing my conversion (5.3L with NV4500) and I have about $1800 in the engine and engine parts alone, not counting the transmission and driveshaft shortened.

Well if the motor wasn't wired it most likely wouldn't have the UBEC sitting on the fenderwell. If the drivetrain is good then you would def be ok. jim

And big reward awaiting if the engine turns out good and little reward if the engine is bad. Worst case it's still money to be made if he takes $1500.

Verify by looks alone, is that not the cover of a 4.8/5.3 and NOT a 6.0 ?
am I incorrect?

6.0

Well an iron headed 6.0 ls engine is older. I believe 99 and 00 only. So that may just be an older style of plastic cover. Nor sure honestly. I am pretty sure the older iron headed 6.0 engine also has a longer crank shaft as it was intended to run with a 4l80e trans only. Later year 6.0 engines used a spacer with the 4l80e instead of a longer crank.

If I am not mistaken the 6.0L did not come with aluminum heads till 2001. The engine cover is for a Vortec 4.8, 5.3 and 6.0 from 1999 to 2002 in the silverado, sierra, tahoe and yukon. I had to ebay Vortec 6.0L engine cover to find out as my 2000 5.3L did not come with one, but these were put in other vehicles too and cover may look different.

I had a 2004 escalade with the vortec 6.0. The cover had "VORTEC 6000" printed on it. Strong engine

Your 04 escalade engine was a better engine than this older one.

Not to say that this one is bad it's just not as powerful.

I am always afraid of "projects". Sometimes there is a reason they stopped working on them.

That truck looks like it has been sitting for awhile.

1500 is the absolute max I would offer. I would offer less.
