Livestock panels on eBay (not mine)....
My grandfather's '65 GMC 3/4 ton (which my dad inherited in '69 and my two brothers and I learned how to drive in it which pretty much destroyed it) had live stock panels that my dad had no use for so he left them for the locusts (other family members that just want stuff cuz it might be worth something)...if I lived close enough to go get these on eBay and had a place to store 'em they would be mine!

Re: Livestock panels on eBay (not mine)....
I'd buy them, but if I buy those I have to buy livestock, if I buy livestock I'll have to buy a farm, if I buy a farm I'll have to buy a tractor & implements, if I buy all that I'll need to raise more livestock and need a bigger truck, so why buy those racks?
On second thought, for just a $75 investment getting into a big farm operation does sound enticing

Re: Livestock panels on eBay (not mine)....
Yeah, I always liked that style of striping. It's not Von Dutch style, it's his sister Aggie style

Re: Livestock panels on eBay (not mine)....
A great deal for sure... But, if the date (2004) on the photo is true, they might not be as good as they look now.

Re: Livestock panels on eBay (not mine)....
My guess would be that's the date they were removed from the truck and put in storage (or left outside), and now the owner needs them gone.

Re: Livestock panels on eBay (not mine)....
Those racks are real handy if you have a lot of brush to haul away

Re: Livestock panels on eBay (not mine)....
They are cool. Definately period. But around here you cant give them away. I bought the whole set up about five years ago for $25 bucks on a whim. Great shape, but just ended up sitting. I think i have chickens roosting on part of em..

Re: Livestock panels on eBay (not mine)....
Now THAT is what I call a farm truck. That one that drag races is a go fishin' or go huntin' truck. All the old guys had the trucks with cap and they'd ride their hunting hounds in the bed

Re: Livestock panels on eBay (not mine)....
I bought these livestock panels on ebay. I just made the trip out to pick them up and I manage to get a pair of 16.5 rims at the truck nationals. I needed two to finish a set to replace the split rims on the truck. Also get several small items I needed.
I don't think my dad ever had a set on his truck, but I know we hauled calves in the bed under a cap. I also remember a farmer hauling cows for us in a larger grain truck with similar fold up extensions. Here's picutures of them on our (13 yr old son and mine) truck.

Re: Livestock panels on eBay (not mine)....
Than pinstripe isn't Von Dutch style, it's Pennsylvania Dutch style
I was glad to hear you got those stock racks. Many of these old truck body places started off as wagon works or other horse drawn implements. That's how Studebaker started. Here in Mt. Airy we had an old truck upfitter like that, York Truck Body, but it didn't make it through the great recession that started in '06. Another, that was across county, Snyder Truck Body, also dropped off. In Baltimore was Lehnert and a connestoga wagon was their logo. As with what seems to be the new American business model, a larger company from NJ bought them, so once again a long lineage has been broken. My '85 Jimmy came from a GMC/Oliver (then White)/implement dealership that was I think 5 generations old, Knott & Geisbert. They started out selling wagons and implements. In the owners manual packet are the sales manager and service manager's cards. One was a Knott and the other was a Geisbert. Unfortunately, with yuppy castles taking over the landscape from the agriculture that was once the prime industry in the area, they closed doors. Just couldn't make it selling lawn mowers I guess. People who buy those houses are of the Home Depot mentality. I went to their auction and cleaned up on the old stock hubcaps and other parts, but I'd rather have them open still. This was a dealership that closed at 5pm and closed on weekends. Just a good old GMC Truck country store https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...99804247,d.cWw
