"excite" one-wire alternator
I know there's a thread on this subject somewhere, but I guess the search function hasn't been working for a while. My 71 Blazer with a one-wire alternator hasn't been driven for a long time; I used to be able to "blip" the throttle and the alternator would kick in and start to charge, but now it won't, even if I run the RPMs up pretty high. I think there's a way to ground one of the electrical connectors on the alternator and that's supposed to get it charging again; does anyone know the correct procedure? I'm afraid to use the trial and error method; I'd probably burn up the diodes or something...
