new member...'70 seat cover question

Hi all. I'm about to be a new owner of a '70 Chevy C10 SWB Stepside. It's mostly original, which is pretty cool.

In any event, I'm in need of a seat cover. It has a standard interior. I've noticed that Classic Industries sells a seat cover that covers 5 years, which isn't the correct vinyl pattern for the standard '70. (see attached pic--the red cover is the correct standard, I believe, unless Chevy did something like put a photo in a brochure that never made it to production. They've never done that! haha)

Is there a vendor that sells the correct cover or am I stuck with what is out there?

Also, did the standard interior get a vinyl floor mat in '70? Can't really tell from the pic. My glovebox door doesn't indicate carpet (not sure if this was generally an option code or not).

I'll post a couple pics once I have the truck in possession. Thanks again.

Do not wait but run to this closed ebay auction for some very good pictures of a 70 K20 base red trim interior. It should help you get back to correct. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1970-Chevrol...-/351375396324

Re: new member...'70 seat cover question

Cool truck. Interior is mint. I'm guessing the repop floor mats are nothing like the ones in the truck either. I guessing I'll still order one. Need to put something down and like the idea of a mat better than a carpet.

Hope I hear back about the seat cover. However, unless he's able to mold vinyl, I'm guessing he can't make me a seat cover like that.

Here's a another pic of the seat cover from that auction. Apologies to the original pic taker for using the pic.

Re: new member...'70 seat cover question

Actually the seat cover face material is molded like that and would come in roll form from a speciality supplier like SMS to be fabricated into a complete cover. If your cover is in overall good shape you MIGHT get away with having the faces replaced locally again using SMS sourced material.

Re: new member...'70 seat cover question

I'm looking for the same standard interior for my 1970 C/20. I talked to Tim and he said he can make me one. He has to get the material from SMS first. They are expensive. Like $600.

Tim has a factory NOS custom interior cover in stock (the one with the cloth inserts) and the correct CTS interior is available from classicparts.

Re: new member...'70 seat cover question

Maybe if I told Tim that I was a forum member, I could get a small discount? And maybe if he has an order for two standard seat covers, we could get a better price? Either way, I will get mine from Tim at Truckseats.

Re: new member...'70 seat cover question

I'm not even sure what the stock cloth seats look like in '70. Not sure I've seen the material before. All trucks I've seen have had full vinyl.

Not sure if we could get a discount. It is, however, slightly hard to justify spending more than 3 times the cost of a CST seat cover, as my truck will be far from a show truck.
