New to Chevy's, old trucks and forums!
I'm John, a 33 year old guy from mid-Missouri!
I come from a long line of Ford owners, mechanics and enthusiasts on both sides of the family. I've never owned anything that wasn't a fuel injected, warranteed vehicle from the time I graduated highschool. Whether it was a new Ford Ranger, F-150, Escape, and even a super charged Mini Cooper. The latest car (now my wife's) is a Volkswagen Golf. I've had the itch to have an older vehicle well before I turned 16, but life gets busy and family directed me towards something "more dependable and reliable" than something I'd spend my weekends wrenching on. Well, here we are 17 years later and I talked my wife (newly married) into the fantastic idea of "upgrading" to something fun, something I could work on and also beat back and forth to work. Many months of searching online between Craigslist, eBay and the local ad papers I found a '72 Chevy longbed. Already lowered, a little body work prep, fresh interior and what was supposed to be a newer engine. Sold! We made the 3 hour trek to Kansas City and fell in love. Everything I'd been looking for. Loud, low and slow. A little body work, fresh paint and minor upgrades on weekends and I'd have the daily driver I'd always dreamt of. Managed to get them down on price and drove her home on a 90 degree day! Never had I had so much fun behind the wheel! 5 days later... On the journey into work. Knock, knock, knock. Uh oh. Look at the gauges... No oil pressure! Knock, knock, knock! Limped it to the parking lot at work. Crap! Trailered her home that evening to prevent any further damage to the engine. So she's sitting while I try to figure out if fixing a spun bearing or two is worth the hassle. Or... Just dropping in a fresh GM 350 with a warranty! This will be my daily driver and a the truck I haul stuff home from work in to remodel our new farmhouse. Anyways, thanks for having me and can't wait to learn everything I can and contribute when possible! Last edited by BrokenBowFarm; 08-10-2015 at 06:50 PM. |

I'm not deterred after this minor problem! She'll be back to ripping up my two-lane blacktop soon. Minor setback, although a little disheartening after just 500 miles. But I've got stuff to haul, fun to be had and neighbors windows to rattle.
