alternate driver side battery trays
anyone try to see if a tray from some other car/truck will fit well in the driver side corner? seeing pix of the late 50s trucks that might work. currently have my oem tray in 3 pieces but it looks like more fab work (which i would have to get done) to make it work....and the cost of a genuine aux tray isnt happening.
either that or i might just relocate the battery to the back...will look cleaner that way anyways lol |

Re: alternate driver side battery trays
There was one made for our trucks that was for sale about a year or two back in the for sale section, to my memory nobody bought it. try the search feature and search it up, maybe he still has it

Re: alternate driver side battery trays
When I put my LS in I wanted the battery on the drivers side also.
My battery box was in good shape, so I drilled out the spotwelds holding it together and welded it back together "mirror image". Works great and very cost effective! |

If you want it you could have it for the ride. I don't have any use for it.

and i already took mine apart @joesgreen67 but it doesnt flip and piece up as easy as people make it to be. lol it seems easier to just cut the actual mounting part of each side then flip and reweld......so now i have mine in 3 pieces and dont wanna mess with it since i dont know how or have a welder. |

Not being rude, but if you have no access to a welder you should have never cut yours apart in the first place. Cutting the spot welds & welding together as a mirror image IS EASY however, if you have no fab skills then seek someone that can BEFORE you cut things apart. |

Re: alternate driver side battery trays
I am doing a 5.3 swap and wanted my battery on the left side as well. Bought a new battery tray from GM for a 5.3 era truck and with very little mods it fits like a glove on the left side. I have pictures on my iPhone of it will post them later today.
