Interior for 1970 blazer 2wd help
Need help with my interior. I want it to look as original
As possible . My door panels , seats belts , seat backs , visors are all the medium green colour . My seats and dash pad have all been re done by previous owner and are a green that I believe is not a factory colour at all. Would my seats match the door panels ??? Arm rests also ??? If my seats are to be another colour does anyone know any place that has covers for the utility buckets ?? Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Interior for 1970 blazer 2wd help
SMS is the way to go on the fabric. I got the most original looking stuff for my 1970 Blazer with utility buckets. I'll try to dig up a pick. Also a brother had a 69 truck short stepper with that same sort of green interior. I say sort of green because it was all different colors of green like I see in your pics. If you were going for original, I guess you just get the closest color you can. SMS is in Oregon. And don't take the first no we don't have anything like that. You may have to talk to several people before geting someone a little more seasoned with the company.

Re: Interior for 1970 blazer 2wd help
And after rereading your question, I had to get mine custom sewn because there is nobody out there making utility bucket seat covers. That cost another $800 or so. I will tell you that they are probably the best looking utility buckets in this part of the midwest, as you can see in the pics.

Thank you for the replies. I'm wondering though, would be seats be the darker green or would they be the medium green matching the door panels, seat belts, visors, etc??

Re: Interior for 1970 blazer 2wd help
I think SMS sells fabric not seat covers. So you have to find someone to sew the covers. There's a couple members on this board that do it.
I just don't remember their names

Re: Interior for 1970 blazer 2wd help
You will have to buy enough material from SMS for both fronts and the rear. Then you will have to have them sewn custom by someone. Their is nobody making ready made covers for the utility bucket.

Yeh I understand there are no ready made covers for utility buckets, but how about for a rear bench seat?

Re: Interior for 1970 blazer 2wd help
Not in that material. They do make covers for the rear seat but it will match the CST trim package. Now I have seen this. Some guys find the thinner CST bucket seats for sale and purchase them, change out the utilities and go that route. The CST covers for the back seat will fit the rear seat you have, there is no difference in size of the rear seat, only the trim covers for the plain jane ones (yours and mine) and the CST package. I actually bought a pair of those seats once early on and was going to change out my front seats but changed my mind, glad I did. The utilities are rarer, bigger and more interesting than what everybody else had. There may be a difference in the mounts from the two...and those mounts can be very difficult to find, ie, when you find them they are pricy!

Thanks for all the info. Yeah I would like to keep my utilities. If I can find the correct medium green fabric. I'd like to be a little different with this truck. Keep the inline 6. Hop it up a bit just to town my Boler camping trailer. And keep the utilities because you just don't see them that often. Maybe becuSe others think they are ugly, but honestly I don't mind them. I am going to re paint an original console to match as well

Re: Interior for 1970 blazer 2wd help
I seen some very bad reviews on SMS fabric. A couple of you have recommended them. I assume the service was good? Anyone have any feedback on them?

Re: Interior for 1970 blazer 2wd help
Other than being fairly persistent, I eventually got what I needed. Trouble is even if you see bad reviews, they are the only ones in the country that has these old OEM and in some cases NOS material. Unless someone knows someone else. Like I said before, may have to talk with several people before you get what you need. Take picture of what you are wanting, find someone in the company who will help, send them a pic and they will send you a sample.

Re: Interior for 1970 blazer 2wd help
I ordered 3.5 yards of patterned and 4.5 yards of unpatterned. Patterned price around 75.00 yard and 49.00 unpatterned. I am glad they were able to help you out. Will try to find the dash pad in garage this weekend. It is or was in a big protective tube when I last remember.

Re: Interior for 1970 blazer 2wd help
Well I looked and I do not have that pad, must have moved it long ago. Sorry. They do sell repops that are very nice indeed, in fact, mine was repop. Had to paint it to match because the interior color was so rare. I primed it with something called Bullydog and we then sprayed it with conventional auto body paint equiptment. Napa sold some interior type paint for plastic and such. Worked great for the repop pad I got. and was still holding on wonderfully when I sold it.

Re: Interior for 1970 blazer 2wd help
I have utilities and a center console. It's tight but it fits.
