Picture of OEM bracket for coolant overflow?
1971 Chevy
I believe the original(s) mounts to the core support. I've seen two bracket types that are claimed original. On one bracket, the belt holding the bottle slopes downward. The other bracket is square with the bottle. I'm certain the one that slopes downward is original, but haven't seen the back portion that mounts to the core support. Anyone have a picture? Feel free to post the square one as well.

Re: Picture of OEM bracket for coolant overflow?
I tried taking a pic of my bracket, but because it's mounted I can't get a good picture. Are you looking for the angled bottom bracket piece that mimics the bottom angle of the bottle?

Re: Picture of OEM bracket for coolant overflow?
There's a bottle or just a bracket for a hose?
My '72 Corvette is original (except paint) and there is no overflow bottle.

Not aware of just a hose bracket, but I suppose there would be. There is a hose bracket for the bottle and bracket. It mounts to the core support under the shroud. See post 20 here: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=546610

This is the one I'm running on mine currently. I'll try to get a better pic of the backside of the bracket. |

Re: Picture of OEM bracket for coolant overflow?
If the bottle is like new and the metal good, definitely.

Re: Picture of OEM bracket for coolant overflow?
The bottom of the bracket is angled. The one on ebay looks square to the bottle. or maybe I'm just looking at it weird. I hope this helps. My coolant hose is too snug too lift the bottle out of the bracket so I could get a better look.

Re: Picture of OEM bracket for coolant overflow?
The bottom bracket is very easy to bend up or down by hand.

Re: Picture of OEM bracket for coolant overflow?
Well, I've seen two claimed originals. One, the bracket is square with the bottle. the other, the bracket is angled. Important to note there are those that came with the truck, others a GM part dealer installed. The bracket with the angle is said to be dealer installed.
Looking at parts books, I'd expect to find the reservoir under category 1.240. There's no mention of a reservoir for these older trucks. Just a hose and clip.............Under 1.240 for a 1991 model, for example, "RESERVOIR, COOL RCVY" is included. Thanks for checking Demi. Wouldn't want you to scratch the bottle anyway.
