GM A6 A/C Compressor Replacement Question

Hello, I'm replacing a GM A6 compressor. My old one has the single wire switch located on the back of the compressor, the new one shown below has the place for it but it's just a plug. The switch and the plug are both held in with a snap ring. Can I swap the switch & the plug? Thought I'd ask if anyone else has run into this before I tried it. Thanks.
