57 GMC 496 Canyon Carver
This thread is a first effort, please be kind. (all constructive advise is appreciated) The subject is a pair of Western Wyoming GMC's 55 & 57, got clean titles. The 57 will be the base while the 55 will become the donor. I already have rear fenders from ptc. As soon as I get this photo thing down, I'll start adding photo's. My son has about a 70% complete 55 F-100 Y block T-56 ford 8.6 rear end. that's since left my shop to my sons home shop to finish. My son in law has a 52 F-1 that's 98% finished and now lives in Rexburg ID. Making room for my build. So it has begun, I have starting photo's just need to get them in here. Not this post but soon. More to come Nut Case

Very cool ... glad you are getting it all started up and glad I could be of some help to ya! Pro-touring is the way to go, suspension has always been my love in any type vehicle. And it doesnt have to be anything special it just needs to be set up RIGHT! --- good luck on your build.

Re: 57 GMC 496 Canyon Carver
Thanks for the support. I already have a 93 complete c-4 Vette suspension in my shop both front and rear, and have the new bushings to do a total rebuild, on the suspension, in box's is the Flat out stuff for both front and rear. I also have a 454 Gen 6 motor that will be the base for the engine, I'm hoping to get a 6L90 for the tranny. I'm going to go EFI all the way, still doing research on that. Also in box's are Shockwaves for all 4 corners. I live 35 minutes from my office, and in between is Provo Canyon 16 miles of easy winding roads, I have the sun to my back going to and coming from. Hench "Canyon Carver". I picked up back fenders from PTC, thanks bud. Any suggestions on the best way to EFI a BBC.
Unfortunately my business took a massive hit from the Google So I'm going to go dormant to focus all my time on removing Googles concerns. Thanks very much, I'll still come to this website for information in the evenings. I'll be back. sorry couldn't resist. Thanks Nut Case

Re: 57 GMC 496 Canyon Carver
Here is an option for fuel injection for a big block. https://www.eficonnection.com/eficonnection/58xBBC.aspx
It basically deveops a 58x signal for use with an LS style system ran by a FAST, Holley controller system. A buddy was considering it for one of his before he decided to go LS. I came to the same conclusion if I decide to swap the 454 in my truck. Sounds like serious plans and parts. Have fun! |

Re: 57 GMC 496 Canyon Carver
I'm excited to see your project and how you approach it; I'm starting a '52 looking to use the C4 components and an LS1 driveline. I'm located in American Fork, let me know when you get back on it.

Re: 57 GMC 496 Canyon Carver
Rusty
I'm a retired one man show..... Still moving as the weather permits, pouring the last 1008 square feet of exterior concrete on Tuesday. The weather liars say that Tuesday should be a good day highs in the low 40's and the low's in the upper teens. It's framed, shingled, windows on site, power to the inside will happen tomorrow. So behind schedule, but it's moving forward. Can't wait to shut off the cost of my storage units. So untwist your nickers... Nut Case

Re: 57 GMC 496 Canyon Carver
-Lowered
55 degrees in Canada, is that typical for this time of year? My pour is set for 9:30 AM 15.5 yards with hot water. I got a great guy doing the work, all I need to do is keep it from freezing till Saturday AM. Got it covered I've got lots of red pex left over, any body use pex for piping air lines? Good / Bad or what? I'm going to do a copper moisture separator. So chime in on your guys choice. NC PS you may be in the great white north, I'm in Clear and Still Idaho. Clear up to your A$$ and Still snowing.

Re: 57 GMC 496 Canyon Carver
I used pex for my air lines . It is just as easy as PVC but much safer.
