What is the best way to clean spark plugs?

go to your local auto zone, etc and say "i need a set of (insert brand and part number here) spark plugs." $15.00 at the most for a standard set.

1FaastC10 is right. Unless you get platinum plugs, they should be about $10 for a set of 8.

When I clean up plugs, I usually just keep it in the spark plug socket and hit it with a wire brush. If it is oily, I'll shoot some brake cleaner on it.

Replacement is really best, though, as cheap as they are.

Yep! Brake cleaner & wire brush. Re-gap them before putting them back in. I have also been known to file the electrode if its rounded off a bit, just to flatten it at the tip.

If you need or want to clean inbetween the electrode and ground strap you can use carboard. It has to be like a cereal box type carboard tho. It is abrasive enough to clean and not really hurt anything.

Cleaning spark plugs is nothing but a waste of time, IMO. Buy a new set and be done with it.

If your engine is causing dirty plugs on a regular basis, it's time for some engine work. In this case, it may save a few bucks to clean them.
