TH350 length vs. 3 speed...
I'm contemplating putting a TH350 in my '67 with a 250 6. I've read that the short shaft car TH350 is the same length as the 3 speed Saginaw. But my 67 has the older 3 speed with no 1st gear synchro (can't remember what model). Anyone know if my trans and the TH350 are the same length? Also, are the output shafts/yokes the same style? I know I'll need the auto crossmember, shift linkage etc.

Yes they are the same. If you get the short tail turbo 350. You'll be able to use your same drive shaft and yolk. I just changed mine on my 69 short bed. You have to cut out the cross member for the standard transmission. I cut the rivets off mine. The top ones will be hard to get to. I had my cab off when I did mine.

Ok thanks. But my '67 has a different transmission than a '69. That's what I'm trying to find out. If the early trans is the same length and yoke as well.

I didn't know the 67 - 69 transmission was different . The turbo 350 has a 27 spline output shaft if yours is 27 spline they would interchange.

Re: TH350 length vs. 3 speed...
i have a 72 c10 3 speed, Its a bit of a pill but its ok. I have thought long and hard about a 5 speed overdrive. or a 4 speed automatic with overdrive.
if your going to that much trouble then go the whole way and make it an overdrive. |

Re: TH350 length vs. 3 speed...
the 3spd muncies are shorter than the later saginaw trans.the slip yoke has differnt splines.
i dont recall if the input shaft had differnt splines or not. we put a short tail th350 in the kids 67 and the speedo cable was a lil' too taught for my liking.
