Rattling rear end

My 86 short bed rattles so much when I hit any size bump. Sounds like something is loose but I have been under there a couple times and haven't found anything loose. Anyone else had this problem?

Mine makes a ton of noise to. I was thinking my bed was loose. Is your truck dropped? I was thinking it was bad shocks or I needed to take a leaf out of the rear.

Yes it's dropped 5 up front and 7 in the back. It doesn't bottom out in the rear or anything. The bed is tightened down. The shocks are close to four years old?? But I got them at the same time as my front shocks and those are doing fine.

Mine is the same. Found my noise, right spring front eyelet broke and one leaf also the left spring rear eyelet broke.

If that's the case, would I have to replace the set of leaf springs no?

Pop the tailgate off and make a run. The tailgate may seem good but when hits a bump it will bounce . Sure way to eliminate it .

Re: Rattling rear end

I think mines in the tailgate b/c my gate doesn't fit very tight. What's the tailgate fix everyone's talking about.

My "fix" was simple and worked well. I took mine off and wrapped those pegs with electrical tape to make them fit tighter in the holes so they didn't have any movement.
