My New 66 Seat Cover Red Houndstooth

Hello,

I'm working away on my old truck. Ive thought about posting a build thread, but I'm just a novice so I'm not doing anything earth shattering. I've also found that I sometimes have to search through huge threads to find pictures when I am looking for ideas on a certain aspect of a truck.

I'm going to try to post a few things that I have done to the truck so others can see how it turned out. I searched for pictures of red houndstooth in a 60-66, but found very little.

Here is what I came up with. I liked the look of the bucket seats in 69 Camaros, so I based mine on that design. I considered buttons on the back rest but decided against it. Im going to use black carpet with this seat and my interior will be painted red.

Looks great. My 65 is all red on the inside and I really like that look.

Thanks. Just to be clear, I didn't do the upholstery work. I drew out what I wanted and took my seat to Bud and Pete's Upholstery in Knoxville, TN. They do a great job and the prices are almost too reasonable. They did an incredible job on a big Crownline boat for me so I had high expectations.

Hey buddy,

I know that you are fairly close to Knoxville. I have had him do a few things for me and Ive sent a lot of people there, so Im not sure if he gave me a slightly better deal than normal, but I would call it extremely inexpensive.

He's a real decent guy. His dad opened the shop in the 40's after he returned from WWII, so they have been there for a long time.

Every price that he has given me has been better than I expected. If you have a job, call him and Im sure he will give you a price.

Thanks. I don't think that buttons would look bad, but I'm not 100% sure, so I played it safe. I also thought that buttons might fall off at some point.

Houndstooth is an odd design. When you look at a piece of it you would think that it would be loud and crazy looking on a seat, but the pattern blends really nice and it looks simple and classic.

I wasn't a fan of the old seat design with white and red. I'll post more pictures when the seat is installed.

I am thinking that the whole interior will be red except for black carpet, black sun visors, black arm rests, and the black in the houndstooth.

I also considered painting the column red or the dash black, but Ive never seen a black dash and carpet in an all red truck interior.
