are these original shocks?
Just changed out the shocks and before I throw the old ones in the bin can anyone tell me if these are the stock shocks? If so do they have any value to guys doing a "correct" restoration. Hate to toss them and then find out someone needed them.

They do look like stock Gm spiral shocks.
shocks are dated like below day - year also have part number stamped

I'd say they sure do look like original...

Re: are these original shocks?
Don't toss them just yet, as they may have some value. Those shocks look correct, but the date is hard to explain (if that '67 is a date).

Re: are these original shocks?
I agree, they do look like they could be original.
The stamping photos weren't posted by the OP.

Re: are these original shocks?
The date code looks like a "Julian" date, meaning the 173rd day of 1966. You'd need to look at a 1966 calendar to figure out exactly when that was, but for a rough estimate it would be June ( 173/30~6 )

Re: are these original shocks?
Problem with old shocks is they soften and become noisy. You can get a new set of original style shocks from Classic Parts that are Much stiffer than the old ones. I got tired of the front end of my 66 going up an down an up an down an up an down for what seemed like Miles after I hit a bump. lol If you can with little effort compress the shock....its time for a new one....I had to use All my weight to compress my new ones and they decompressed themselves like they're supposed to. I still have the original shocks from my 66 but they are toast from 50 years of bumpy road. So unless someone is doing a majorly BONE Stock resto....I don't think they'll hold to much value....but that's me speaking.
