dash brake light
I know we've beat this question to death....but...just did a break job on the rear. New shoes, drums cut, a couple new sections of lines, and two new wheel cylinders... dash light still on! What gives? Are any of sure the light has nothing to do with the parking brake? I know a handful of people have said no, but mine for sure does not work and the light won't go away.

Re: dash brake light
Learn the proper way to bleed your brakes and the pop valve will return to the center and the light goes off// read the factory service manual to learn

Re: dash brake light
The prop valve is the only thing hooked to the light. Parking brake has no light on these trucks.

Re: dash brake light
Believe me, the brakes were bled. There is not one bubble of air in those lines. I didn't think I needed to mention that I bled the brakes, isn't that common sense when doing a brake job? What's a pop valve anyway cdowns?

Re: dash brake light
Bleeding the brakes and bleeding them properly are two differnt things if you've got the light on you did not do it right

Mine was still on when I got the rear brakes finished and bled. Brakes felt good so I started driving it and within 20 or so miles it went out on its own.... LockDoc

Re: dash brake light
I put probably 40 or so on it the next day, no luck. I'm going to rebleed them tomorrow, if that doesn't work. I'm pulling the bulb out!

Re: dash brake light
X2. This will often recenter the pin, and the light will go out.

Re: dash brake light
Just an update guys, bled the brakes and the light stayed on. Stomped the pedal and it stayed on. Figured I'd drive it and see what happened, bet I made it 500 yards and the light went off and stayed off

Re: dash brake light
"prop" valve = proportioning valve. Even though it was inadvertently called a "pop" valve earlier.
The proportioning valve is mounted just along side the master cylinder. Gary
