Drip rails or no drip rails
What is everyone's opinion on roof drip rail... Do ya'll like the truck more original with the factory drip rail or are ya'll a fan of the shaved rails with smoother roof line? Send us a pic of your modified/deleted rails..

This is one of those "its up to you". Sort of depends on the theme of the whole truck. My truck would look silly shaved because its pretty original, while some look great shaved.
Personally, I like the stock look. Its actually difficult to keep a truck stock and still running after 40 years.

Depending on the look your wanting to have. I like a full blown shaved cab. I think it gives the truck it's own personality that stock ones don't have. In the end though it's all up to you!

For my truck, I was already butchering everything else, so I figured 'why not'. On a more stock build or a fleetside with all the trim involved, I wouldn't even consider shaving the drip rail.

I saw a couple builds where the drip rail was removed, but replaced with some small metal piping. helped keep the division between the roof and doors but wasn't as obtrusive as the drip rail.

I have the drip rail and at times wish I did not. I like to drive mine and I call it a bug catcher. Plus I think it adds to the wind noise in the cab. They do look good on there and if done right they look good removed but I do understand it is a lot of work to do it and correctly. I may attempt it sometime because I do think for driving one it would help.

if you love old trucks enough to buy one, why shave, cut and modify it until it looks like a new truck?
do you want a old one, or a new one... buy a new one and your done. MOFWIW

This is one of those love the way it looks but it does allow water and such to come in on you when you open the door.
If it's a all show truck I say go for it. If your going to be driving it in bad weather it's not going to be fun at all. I love the look. They are bug catchers for sure as Custom 68 stated and I hate mine but would never cut them off. As far as the modern statements it's how you use the truck that makes that either a go are not. I drive mine everyday it's not being worked on and having modern comforts is very nice with the classic look. Late model seats and LS motor, GPS gauges is very nice. Classic look with modern driveability is unbeatable!

The drip rails are one of the coolest looking features these trucks have. To me they really complete the look of the rest of the truck.

Well, like any topic, there is always different opinions. Bossing I luv your truck, good stance, color and I can go both ways on drip rail. Like a lot of you have said, it's a matter of what look your going for. Thanks everyone. I am not sure if I want shaved or not, think I was just trying to challenge my skill set.

I've heard all the current arguments why the auto makers deleted the drip rails in the newer cars and trucks, but I hate it in the winter when I open the door and two pounds of slush fall into my van. Drip rails prevented that. I think the old designers had it right - I wish they'd bring them back.

My opinion- shaved drip rails make it look like a modern truck; if you want a modern truck go to a dealership and save yourself the work.
What my opinion should mean to you- nothing at all. It's your truck, and you're the only one who has to like it and live with it. In the end decide what you want the finished product to look like. Nothing looks more out of place than random custom touches that have no fluidity in the design concept. |

It depends on the build, stock trucks should have them. My truck has a few mild custom touches so I shaved mine and like the way if flows with my other mods. I hate when a truck looks like it was built by 5 different guys.

I like the trucks with em or without. For me and my trucks, i'll keep em for now. Might do a full blown custom one of these days and shave em, we'll see. My vote is to keep em. But I'm talking about my junk.

I like them with and without. It just depends on the look your going for. It is a ton of work to shave one and make it function and look right!

I feel if you need to cut them you need to buy the 1963--66 ford trucks they did not come with them you don't see many on the road today.that was one option for should of put on there truck but in 1967 they did just that.
I hear a lot of guys that have the 1950--53 chevy 5 windows complained about getting soaked |
