Need Aftermarket Wheel Ideas

Starting to shop for after market Aluminum wheels.
They are for a 3/4 ton 4x4. So no frilly stuff.
Already looked at Les Schwab (local tire chain). Too much frilly stuff there.
Need ideas of good wheel manufacturers, and their website addresses please.
Or heck. Post some pix of your 3/4 ton 4x4's here and give me some good ideas.

Youve got to check www.centerlinewheels.com click wheeldeals, enter info. If you find something you like you can save some bucks. I bought a set and they shipped them for $30. Most of these are overruns and closeouts. If blems it will say...good luck!

they're called slotted aluminium wheels they were popular in the 70's alot od manufacturers made them , hildebrand still makes a version of them

Boarxman--Thanks for posting that site. I've been considering some new rims, and they had some on there I really liked. I hope I'm not hijacking the thread, but I do have one question. What's the bolts circle for a stock '68 C-10 1/2 ton? It has 6 lugs, but I was just looking for a quick reply? Thanks.

The first wheels you posted look a bit like MT Challengers made by Alcoa. They have been discontinued. I do know where quite a few sets are if you are interested about $200 ea.

They would need to be 8 Lug 16" x 10"wide for a 3/4 ton.

Yes new, that price is for a 15x10 6 lug. I can PM you with more info if you would like to check on them they do not have a website as far as I know.
Just checked on the specs http://www.samsoffroad.com/samsoffro...er%20Specs.htm looks like they are only available on a 16x7 and 16x8 in 8 lug.

Cleaning is one thing to take into consideration. Polished aluminum is really tuff to keep looking nice. I like Welds but they do take some care.

It seems that if someone was making these, they would use modern coatings (clear coat) to keep them shiney? And not just polish them like they did in the old days.
Any thoughts guys?
I think the top Orange truck / wheels belong to Joesjunk?

The problem with clear coat is like on tool boxes....they get dull or peel then theres nothing you can do about it.

my mom has aluminum boyds on her sub and polish them even though they have some coating on them. they look great.

In my experience I have found that the type of wheel makes a big difference. When you are buying an inexpensive cast wheel what Mudder67 is true. The material is more porous and collects impuritys faster. I used to have set of 17" Budniks on my 94 when it was dropped and they looked almost as good as when I bought them when sold 3 years later with a quick polish. The same can be said about my Billit Specialties wheels that are on it now, still nice after a couple of years. The truck is my daily driver so the wheels see weather also. The Alcoas are a forged billit wheel so I believe I can expect the same from them. Even with less expensive wheels if you give them a real good machine polish they are much easier to keep up on. A friend had a set of cheap Enkie's (sp?) stripped and polished by a shop here for $100 and they looked real good even after a year. Good luck in your wheel search.

My Welds are 8 years old and they look better than guys that have had their for a couple of years. My truck has been out in the weather and theirs inside and hauled on trailers. I take care of mine. I dry them after washing and I dont let water spots build up on them....It takes time.

Just think about the up keep when you go to buy wheels...

Darren, try Hi-way fuel, they sell tires and wheels there,les schwab probably could get you anything but they always try to sell the spendy wheels.
DC parts in Vancouver had a set used 8-lug slotted mags for sale the last time I was in there.I think he wanted $300 for them.

Here's what 15 X 10 slots look like on a Cheyenne 20. Fronts are 31/10.50R15, rears are 32/11.50R15. The set in BC would be a great deal, esp if $300 Canadian. You can see a couple of close-up shots in the "Pictures" board. GL...

I'd have to agree with mudder67, Weld makes some really good
pick-up wheels. Polished wheels do require a little more
maint. than plated, but i think the polished look goes good with our older 4x4's.
As far as where to buy, I am kind of a schwaby's fan.
You may pay a little more up front, but the service you get is
well worth the cost. just my $0.02.

Yes, That is my truck. I bought them at a swap meet about 10 years ago. Them I had them polished. I don't know any one with 8 lug wheels for sale. All I can tell you is good luck and keep looking, they are tough to find but look cool!!!!! American racing used to make these wheels a few years ago. Also Mickey thompson made them not too long ago also.
