Great job!

Can I ask a question though? Why is it every or just about every single diesel powered truck runs the exhaust straight up in the air?

One, less weight with having no exhaust pipes

Two, if you point it at the ground or out the side you have a chance of "smoking out the lights" witch means the beam of light that tells the timing system you are up to the line ready to race gets smoked out and can't tell when you leave. If this happens you are automatically DQ'ed and loose that race.

What's up Brett? This is Phil Puleo, Jons brother. Your truck looks awesome and puts down some crazy numbers. Nice work!

Hey Phil!!

Your truck looks like it is coming along very nicely. Hopefully we can get together this summer and hit up some cruse nights or car shows.

The DJ Safety guys were great to meet and talk with. I can't believe they even remember talking with me. That show is insane and something everyone should go and check out!

I'm at a point with my truck to stay on top I need to install a sfi 25.6 cage in it or turn it back into a driver. The sfi cert. as of right now will only let us heavy guys (3601 and up) run 8.50 and slower. This winter they are coming out with a 25.6 cert. to let the heavy guys run 7.50 and slower as long as your under 5000lbs. I would love to do the 25.6 but not with this truck. I would like to find a fiberglass cab and front end so I can switch them out with what I have now. That way later down the road I can put my steel stuff back on. My grandpa gave me this truck and it mean way to much to me to cut it all up to install a cage.

I hear ya...I went through a similar dilemma in the 1980s with my old Super Gas car that was originally my grandfather's. Fitting all of that fiberglass is a ton of work. Having built a few fiberglass body cars, it would almost be easier to find an Pro Stock/Comp Eliminator truck chassis...I'm up to my ears right now fitting my fiberglass '32 Bantam fuel altered body conversion.

I'm going to leave it alone this season. I have a new motor I'm going to be trying this year!

Re: 8.55@161 video C10 DIESEL

We decided to get a baseline from my current setup to see how, where and why it makes the power it does. Recap on the setup is LLY motor with 15.5Comp Oval Race cast pistons with reliefs, SoCal 9100 Cam, Wagler Extreme heads, HSP Billet manifold and big up-pipes, HSP Triple turbo kit featuring Bullseye Power B475-96 T41.0ar double gated and fed by a pair of TCT475/87 1.0ss turbos. Uses factory clam shells fed by 3" y-bridge and a front mount air to air cooler. Fuel is 175%inj Exergy injectors fed by pair of my modded LBZ cp3's. We recorded all the data on it also so we can compare apples to apples. This is exactly how it was ran in the truck for the past 2 years. The old reliable tune #3 that ran 8.80's made 1381hp 2205ftlbs @84psi boost and made a peak of 5147psi cylinder pressure. This tune is 1850us 20*peak. The tune that he ran his 8.52@161mph made 1447hp 2304ftlbs on 88psi boost at 5,582psi peak cylinder pressure. This was 2275us and 26* peak tune. Great to see the actual data on this beast and can wait to see how the new motor setup will stack up comparatively.

That was about what I was thinking. That is incredible to put down that much torque at such low rpms compared to a gas engine.

Who said you can't go deep 8's with <700rwhp in a +3,600lb vehicle.. It does show that HP isn't everything..
