61 to 62-66 hood?
looked at a 62 tonight that is titled as such, but has the 60-61 hood on it. says it was ALWAYs that way and I know that can happen back in those days if it was a 'leftover'. The hood is rusted anyway and I prefer the 62-66 design so is it just a matter of changing the hood? thanx . crossy

Yep, it's just a matter of bolting it on. You will require the hood release latch that goes with the later hood. It has the handle going side ways in the hood opening, where the 60-61 hood has the handle facing down into the area under the hood.

My Suburban in my avatar is actually a '62, and I put '60 grill and '60/'61 hood on it, and just bolted the hood on, not doing anything with the latch. Drove it for years without a problem. (until the deer restyled the whole front of the truck for me). -Brad

Re: 61 to 62-66 hood?
The new 1960 hood came with the correct latch installed in the hood. That release handle points straight down. The 1962-66 hood release handle points toward the drivers side and is accessed in the opening in the front of the hood. I dealt with all this when I swapped my 1960 GMC hood over to a 62-66 Chevy version.

Ah. That makes sense.
I've read some posts that said you have to change the part of the latch on the grill support too, but I didn't have to. -Brad

Re: 61 to 62-66 hood?
even though the latches are different, some say the pin is shorter. maybe only 1960. my 61 came with a 62-66 hood on it. I replaced it with a 61 hood and didn't change anything.

Because as a non supporting member, you cannot ask that you want to buy. You can ask what vendors sell a hood. The answer to that is none, they are not reproduced. Craigslist is your best bet.

If you were in the San Diego area, there is a local guy that's on craigslist who likely have a hood. Good luck.
