87 LWB Silverado "the dirty blue truck"

Picked up an 87 last spring had planned to part it out, but my dad ended up driving it to and from the farm over summer and fall. I paid next to nothing for it, and it's a perfect beater! My 4 year old girl calls it the dirty blue truck. ... lol

350 tbi 700R4 not really been hacked up. I really don't know what to do with it, but it sure does work out well for a truck to loan out to non truck owners

I plan to run it once the toss out the salt this winter to save my 94 K1500.

Re: 87 LWB Silverado "the dirty blue truck"

I've had a 93, 94, 96 z71's nice trucks 93 bought new off the show room but honestly I couldn't see saving a 94 and running a 87 even more into the ground.

I have 4x4's but I love the solid front axle squares much more than the torsion bar front end 94ish models those rode better but these trucks don't wear out like those 90's do I had to rebuild the front end on my 94 at 170k miles I know people with straight axle fronts with over 300k on them without any wear issues.

Click on the link for the 94, then you might get it.

The 87 is near it's end, and is a 2wd, not sure how it would be compared to a 4x4 solid axle. It's just a rusted out old square body

Those square C 10's rode better than most cars. Anybody that borrows one would say "Dang, this thing rides better than my car"

Your right, it rides great even with a broken rear spring and worn out shocks

Re: 87 LWB Silverado "the dirty blue truck"

I gotcha

my 96 z71 was an awesome truck it was a loaded out truck extended cab, 5.7 vortex, leather, 60/40 seats.

had some rare options one being F44 option which gave it a 14 bolt semi floater rear end and a extra left like a 2500 would have.

it also had 3.73 gears and that truck was STOUT, more powerful than my 2015 z71 by seat of the pants even.

I reaplced intake gaskets on it at 69k, fuel pump at 60k, steering box seal, heater hose nipple, water pump 65k, several other small stuff i think because it sat a lot I sold it a couple years ago with 83k miles on it for $8900…was too cheap I THINK but it was always having small things needed to be done.

Inwould junk it up some more and make her a sleeper. Put a nice built ls in it or maybe a big block. Rims and lower it. Perfect little shop truck.

This old truck is going to get new life. We put it up for sale this spring, and a guy who is building a 49 GMC bought it for the chassis.

A hot rod recycled life. Won't the chassis be too wide for a 49?
