Help!!! Truck Wont Start!!! - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Hey guys, I need some help.

We have completely put this truck on a completely new frame.

Got it all back together and it wont start. Makes no effort at all the turn over. Starter doesnt make any noise. Lights in the cab work, even the radio works. So I think These wires that we dont have hooked up must have something to do with it.

If not, you guys have any ideas?

Are you sure you got the right wires hooked up on the starter correctly? Not sure what those wires you have there are for.

Wires on starter were never unhooked when we removed engine. ANd it was running before we got it, pretty fast too.....in a wreck, lol.

Sounds like solenoid on the starter.

Still have the old truck? I thought your dad took it and gave you a new one?

If you didn't unhook the wires from the starter when you removed the engine, what did you do, cut them? You have to remove the power wires from the starter, right?

Does the fuel pump engange , cause thats what the problem with mine was so who knows could be just the fuel pump or like you said the wires that arent conected might need to be conected.

Yes its my dads truck, but I end up doing most of the work. lol

When we removed the engine, we unplugged the wires from the car, so we took the complete wiring harness out, so nothing was disconnected, except those that run to the firewall.

If it was the solenoid, would it make any noise? A click or something? Im not sure.

Hardcore, dont know if the fuel pump works or not, wont even turn over so we can see if it does. lol

AJII, you are right about the wires having something to do with it. The wires against the firewall are the ignition and knock sensor wires they hook up to the coil in the cap. Take of the air cleaner housing and look at the square extension coming off the top of the distributor cap. The wires plug in underneath that square extension.
