I don't think it was as solid as it looked. That engine was filthy, and you could see rust when they pulled some of the parts out. I think it had a nice paint job so it would sell for a lot.

It looked like a 20 footer, and besides they made a ton of them.
Like Jesse said destroying this one just makes the rest go up in value. LOL

It was a nice car, but it looked better before Jesse killed it! And what was with the "roid" boy who was the previous owner. I'm sure he got paid good $ for it...

Hell I loved the show especially since we provided the Pro shocks for it. Just hated to see it get wrecked, but it was pretty cool seing the impact.

monster garage

they paid 9000.00 for the car, the guy was asking 12000.oo at the long beach hi-po swap meet. the reason i know is that after the car was done on the show it came to my nrother in laws shop to change out the motor and to get it ready for the track. the guy on the show, Rod Proctor, my brother in law does all the work for his figure 8 car. after that show the elky was cut up and made into a true figure 8 car. it was taken back to race in the figure 8 champs in Indiana. i think Jesse place 27th but cant remember. the car had a lot of work to do on it before the race on the show.

Dwayne

just thought you would like to know....

I don't really watch this show anymore. The few times that I did see it I didn't make sense to me. I'm good to go on the Junkyard Wars and even on Motorcycle Mania. Where they take nothing and make something out of it. I just don't get into taking something and making nothing out of it. All the projects I've seen are useless. The only beneficial thing that comes out of the show is ingenuity. There are far better projects to concentrate that on.

I agree. Junkyard Wars is cool, even though a lot of stuff that is in that junkyard shouldn't be there (one team "discovered" a running/driving 73-87 K10 short fleet with a lift and big tires, and also a late 70's Ford F-150 4x4 stepside in the same episode)...but it isn't worth tons of cash like all the freebies they receive on that show.

Gun control, the theory that 110lb. women have the "right" to fistfight with 210lb. rapists.

The reason animal rights activists are more passionate about fur than leather is because it's safer to harrass rich women than bikers...

Anyone see the episode when they hacked the one owner 72 (?) big block vette and changed it to a mudder? I love the show. I hate the way they destroy some nice cars, but Jesse makes me laugh.

LOL That was a good comment by Jesse.

Not sure about you guys, but an original big block, Air conditioned El Camino SS isn't something you find every day around here

I thought the premise was to 'build' something from a vehicle within a certain time frame & budget?

My guess is they could have picked up a similar vintage camino in worse shape for less or gotten a late model 78-up for almost nothing. The way they just 'ripped' the interior apart proved to me 'budget' is not a concern @ all.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

The only thing I can figure is he wanted to raise a stink by using an old collectable car. He knew it would tick alot of people off and that gets more attention than using a 1986. (and he sure doesn't care about old cars does he?) That El Camino is the talk of alot of websites.

Personally, he seems like an arrogant jerk and destroying old cars isn't helping anyone like him more.

I like the show but not when they destroy old cars. And it wouldn't bother me if they got rid of Jesse all together. hee hee.
