I have owned several late model GMC trucks and SUVs. This is my first GMC squarebody.

As I`m sure you know, there is really no difference to the chevys. Just different badging. I`ve had 2 GMC squares and 2 chevy squares plus a 90K5 blazer and all were pretty much the same thing. now that I have another GMC square I do kind of lean towards them more just because most people either have chevys or change out the GMC stuff to chevy stuff.

That said, very clean truck. I`m not a fan of painted wheels in general regardless of the color but sounds like you may have some upgrades planed. My gmc has a 305/700r4 and it run strong and has plenty of power for what I use it for, a daily driver. I do think about swapping in a late model drivetrain but for now it works ok.

I drive GMCs daily, just because I prefer the current styling over Chevrolet. My next truck will probably be a Silverado for the same reason. SUVs are another story. The Suburban/Tahoe is not available with a 6.2 like the Yukon Denali.
Yes, I know you were referring to #squarebody trucks.
I know cubic inches matter, but there was only 30hp difference between the 305 and 350 in 84. Not a big issue as it runs perfectly and I don't plan to tow with it.

Yes I was talking about squares but I know what you mean about the options. I wonder if it was the same issue back then, some stuff available on GMC over Chevy and vice versa.

My last square was a 83 Chevy SWB with the same 305/700R4 and this one seems to run much better than the other one. I`m pretty happy with the power of the current 305 but it does smoke on start up so I know its tired. I dont know that I could build a 305 for it knowing a mild 350 or even a 383 would be almost the same price. I`d love to have a stock TBI 350 in there but for now it runs good. Just gotta work the bugs out. Yours is super clean and I wouldnt touch the engine either.

So much better without the white wheels! Already getting better in my opinion. Nice score, it's always best to start with the best truck you can find and it looks like your searching paid off.

No; they were identical in terms of available options - just the nameplate difference.

My plans for the motor are cosmetic along with a quality carb tune. Its runs "ok", but I think it could be better. The biggest issue with performance in the mid 80s trucks are the ridiculously high rear gears. I may be looking for a 12 bolt with better gears.

The white wheels didnt look too bad, but I do think the Racelines look much better
