327 S/B replacement carby options????

Hey Truckers,

I was hoping you guys could give me some direction for a replacement carby for my 327 small block.

Ultimately i will be popping in a new motor in the future but currently i need a replacement carby to just get my Pig running again.

Any help or guidance will be greatly appreciated guys..

Just put a kit in the Rochester 2bl if that's what's on it.

600 Edelbrock with an electric choke and a fuel pressure regular preferably the kind with the dial so you can turn it down as they hate a lot of pressure somewhere around 5 psi and you will be fine. You know back in the day an earlier version of that carb know as the AFB Carter was placed on the factory 300 horse 327 motors. With a 4 barrel intake that could be had cheap and a HEI [to do away with the points] that thing would be very nice driver. add a small cam and headers and wake up the little monster. Forget i said that you just want to add a carb. Oh and if you want to stay with the 2 barrel you can get a "kit" in it for almost nothing the 2 barrel carb rebuild would be a huge confidence booster for a person without a ton of underhood time in. 4bbl or 2 bbl? I'd rebuild or have rebuilt. Are you in Australia? If so, are you able to get a rebuild kit, or is there no one able to help you do that? If you do go with bolting a new one on, and it's a 4bbl, you don't want much more than 600cfm for that displacement. I have a 350hp 327 built and bought a 570cfm Holley Street Avenger for it. But, more recently, I picked up a QuadraJet for a '68 350hp Vette I'd rather use for cool factor

Hey!

Not really a rebuild more of a keep the truck on the road till I can get afford a new motor and tranny for it. Yeah I'm in Bondi beach

It is currently running a 4bbl but no idea the make. If I went the Holley, is it a straight fit not tinkering needed?

Carburetors are NOT Plug-n-play. I repeat, NOT Plug-n-play.

A brand new carb, out of the box is not ready to be driven. With the engine running, a brand new carb must have idle speed adjusted. It must have the fuel idle mixture adjusted and the choke adjusted.
A brand new carb out of the box will not correct an ignition problem. A brand new carb will not correct a vacuum problem and it will not correct a valve train problem.

Could mean than it needs little more than what a "brand new carb, out of the box" needs.
Adapting a new carb that was not original to the manifold and setup introduces further complications.
